ARNOLD, Edsel Cyril, 50, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, June 30, 1995. He was retired from Harris Office Furniture, and a Vietnam Veteran having served with the U. S. Army. Survivors include his wife, Bessie Carter Arnold; three sons, Frank David Arnold Sr., Edward Jacob Arnold, John Paul Arnold, all of Roanoke; stepmother, Frances Arnold, Roanoke; two brothers, Frank Edward Arnold, Vinton, Douglas Ash, Roanoke; also three grandchildren. AYERS, William Glenn, 87, of Roanoke, died Friday, June 30, 1995 in a local hospital. Mr. Ayers was a member of Huntington Court United Methodist Church for 55 years, member of Williamson Road Masonic Lodge #163, Scottish Rite Bodies, member of K.C.C.H., and Kazim Shrine Temple. He was a retired Chief Dispatcher for Norfolk and Western Railway. Surviving are his wife, Frances Kinder Ayers; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Margaret and James H. Smith, Richmond; two granddaughters, Sarah Nye Smith, and Cindy Smith Blackburn, Richmond; great-granddaughter, Christine Blackburn; great-grandson, Collin Blackburn; three sisters, Ina White, Max Meadows, Va., Blanche McCallister, Wytheville, and Annie Reynolds, Austinville. BOWMAN, Evelyn Smith, 75, of Roanoke, died Friday, June 30, 1995. She was born in Wythe County on June 13, 1920, the daughter of Emmett O. and Sallie Davis Smith. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Douglas G. Bowman of Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Robert Wenger, Staunton; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and James McCarthy, Roanoke; son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Nancy Bowman, Roanoke; five grandchildren, Honor, Hope and Glory Bowman, James G. McCarthy II and Katrina Reavis; sister, Frances Irene Smith of Wytheville. She was a member of Cave Spring United Methodist Church and the United Daughters of the Confederacy. BRICKEY, Raymond L., 87, of Roanoke, died Saturday, July 1, 1995 in a Salem hospital. He was a member and a deacon at Virginia Heights Baptist Church where he had served as Superintendent of Sunday Schools and Chairman of the Board of Deacons. He was owner and President of Auto Parts Inc. and was a former employee of Auto Spring & Bearing Company. He was a 50 year Monarch member of the Lions Club and had served as President of the Roanoke Host Lions Club. He helped found and served as President of the Virginia Automotive Wholesalers Association. He was an active member of the Southwestern Virginia Genealogical Society. He was awarded the bronze Good Citizenship Medal from the Fincastle Chapter of Virginia, Sons of the American Revolution. He was author of the book, ""The Brickey Heritage"". Surviving are his wife, Elsie Moore Brickey, Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Joanne B. Hedeman and Dr. John L. Hedeman, Annapolis, Md.; one brother and his wife, Roger Caldwell and Elizabeth Brickey, Roanoke; three grandchildren, John Raymond Anderson, Juliet Higdon, and Joanne Charlee Hedeman; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel 3 p.m. Monday with Dr. Daniel E. Scott officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Burial Park. COX, Elsie Calhoun, 76, of Atkins, Va., died Saturday, July 1, 1995 in the Sentara Nursing Center in Barco, N.C. She was the widow of Samuel R. ""Gike"" Cox. Mrs. Cox was a life long resident of Atkins, Va. and was a member of the Atkins Garden Club. She was known for strawberry short cake and fruit cup preparation at Festival In The Park and was an active member of Glade Creek Lutheran Church. JONES, Loveline Wilkerson, 88, of Lynchburg, died Saturday, July 1, 1995, in the Drinkard Health Care Center of Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg. She was the widow of Dudley Mitchell Jones. Born in Prince Edward County, December 21, 1906, she was a daughter of the late John Hopkins and Margaret Reynolds Wilkerson. Mrs. Jones was a member of the first graduating class of Virginia Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, and was a retired Registered Nurse after over fifty years of service to the Lynchburg area. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Edgar V. (Shirley) Wheeler of Roanoke; one son, Thomas L. Jones, R.Ph, of Lynchburg; two grandchildren, Mitchell V. Wheeler and Mrs. James (Susan) Grubb, both of Roanoke; four brothers and two sisters. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday in Spring Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Mack Jarvis and the Rev. Nathan Brooks officiating. The family will receive friends at the residence of her son, Tom Jones, The Cedar's Walnut Hollow Road, from 4 to 7:30 Sunday. He was born in Pulaski on April 26, 1940, and was the son of the late Clarence Claude Lewis. PENNINGTON, Lillard Carl, 90, of Marion, died Saturday, July 1, 1995 in Smyth County Community Hospital. Mr. Pennington was born June 1, 1905 the son of Samuel Josiah and Lanie Hart Pennington. He was a member of the Marion Baptist Church and served on the Board of Deacons for many years. Mr. Pennington retired from Brunswick Corp. and was a member of Local 1667. He is survived by his wife, Lenora Aker Pennington, Marion; one sister, Mary P. Condron, Redlands, Calif.; one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Kathleen Pennington, Troutdale; and a host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 3, 1995, at 2 p.m. at the Marion Baptist Church with Dr. William A. Slater and Dr. Primitivo Delgado officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery. PROCEJUS, William C., 70, of Waipahu, Hawaii, died Tuesday, June 27, 1995, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Procejus was born in Audobon, N.J. Most recently he worked as a Sales Representative in government sales for the Yeattes-Brawley Group in Hawaii with his largest customer being the Pearl Harbor Submarine Base. He worked for Allstate Insurance Co. for 20 years in Roanoke. While at Allstate he was involved in the origination of their Marine Underwriting Program. He spend 11 years in Virginia Beach as a salesman for the Ford Motor Co. He was also involved in several business ventures including industrial chemical sales, and interior furnishing products. Mr. Procejus served during World War II and the Captain of a P.T. boat doing sea and air rescue. He was also very active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and instrumental in organizing the Coast Guard at Smith Mountain Lake. Survivors include his wife, Ellen W. Procejus; two daughters, Chris Procejus Scriver of Brockville, Ontario, and Connie Procejus Martin of Henrico, N.C.; two sons, William Procejus and Jeff Procejus, both of New York City, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Ben Lacey of Bridge North, Ontario, and Megan Lacey of Toronto, Ontario. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barb Procejus. A memorial service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 5, 1995, in Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel by the Rev.
