MINTER, Horatio D. Sr., (``Ray""), 85, of Rt. 5, Greenhill Dr., Martinsville, died Tuesday, July 4, 1995. He was the son of the late James Silas and Rosa Pace Minter of Henry County, Va. He was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters. Mr. Minter was the widower of Louise T. Minter and Joan Stout Minter. Born August 6, 1909 in Henry County, he is survived by six children, Mr. H. Daniel Minter Jr., Lexington, KY., Mrs. Patricia M. White, Lynchburg, Ms. Rosemary M. Fox, Wadsworth, Ohio, Mrs. Ellen T. Boone, Martinsville, Mr. Timothy V. Minter, Amherst and Mrs. Louise F. Dudley, Lynchburg; five stepchildren, Mrs. Paula S. Bolling, Blacksburg, Mr. Terry P. Stout, Martinez, GA., Mrs. Judy S. Simmons, Montgomery, AL., Mrs. Diane S. Dry, Durham, NC., and Mrs. Barbara S. Parker, Greensboro, NC.; 31 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Ray Minter was a member of S. Joseph's Catholic Church, Martinsville. His dedication to the Knights of Columbus was well known. His service with the K of C began at St. Andrew's Council in New Jersey in 1948. In 1953, he moved to Lynchburg, Va. and transferred his membership to Holy Cross Council #595. He became known all over the state for his work with the organization, holding numerous K of C offices, becoming part of Virginia's K of C history. He served on all chairs of Holy Cross Council 595 third degree, held two terms as District Deputy for the VA State Council. Mr. Minter was instrumental in organizing Councils 6143 Danville, Va., 6538 Martinsville, Va., 6695 Bristol, Va. and 6747 Blacksburg, Va. He was a charter member of Councils 6143 Danville and 6538 Martinsville. In the fourth degree, he was Charter Navigator and served two terms for the Holy Cross Assembly. After retiring, he served the Martinsville Council as advocate and trustee. In addition, he was an active member of the Patrick Henry Assembly of Martinsville/Danville. In 1953, he purc hased Fairview Hardware, Lynchburg, Va. and later established and operated for 20 years Sealtite Storm Window Company before retiring to Martinsville, Va. in 1971. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at McKee's Funeral Home, Martinsville, Va. A mass of the resurrection will be conducted by Father Vincent Fitzpatrick of Sterling, NJ at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Martinsville Thursday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Minter Family Cemetery, Greenhill Dr., Martinsville, Va.

BOARD, Virgie Quesenberry McKay, 81, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 1995, in a local hospital. She was the widow of Kyle Parr McKay and Ralph Board. Mrs. Board was a member of Oakland Baptist Church and the Sadie Stevens Sunday School Class. Surviving are her daughter, Sue Ellen Tyree, Vinton; five grandchildren, Melissa Faye Spencley, Steven Andrew Booth, Gretchen Sue Fritz, Adriane Darlene Fritz, Rebecca Diane Fritz; two great-grandchildren, Kristy Leigh Sexton, Ty Clayton Sexton; sister, Mozelle Goodwin, Richmond; brothers, Claude Quesenberry, Pulaski, Guy Quesenberry, Germany. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's North Chapel by the Rev. Kelly Dampeer. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Oakey's North Chapel.

BOROJEVIC, Marjana, 17, of Blacksburg, our beautiful joy, departed from us to be with the saints in Heaven, Sunday, July 2, 1995, eight days after her seventeenth birthday. She achieved many things in her short life, but most of all she touched so many other people and filled them with joy, happiness and exaltation for life. She will keep living in our hearts. Those who hold her dearest in their hearts: with her everlasting Love, Mama, Tata, and brother, Misha, grandparents, aunt, and uncle. The funeral service will be held at Blacksburg Christian Fellowship, 2300 North Main St., Blacksburg on Wednesday, July 5, 1995. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m. with the service beginning at 7 p.m. A scholarship in memory of Marjana Borojevic will be set up at Blacksburg High School. BRITTS, Marie Low, 89, of New Castle, died Sunday, July 2, 1995, at her home. She is survived by one sister, Sara Hancock, Pearisburg; two nephews, Richard Barry Hancock, Pearisburg, S. Rea Low Jr., Roanoke. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 1995, at New Castle United Methodist Church. Interment in Fairview Cemetery, Roanoke. CHAPLIN, Frank William, 80, of Buena Vista, died Friday, June 30, 1995, in the V.A. Medical Center, Salem. Born April 20, 1915, in Rockbridge Co. he was the son of the late Guy W. Chaplin and Annie Morrison Chaplin. Mr. Chaplin was retired from Burlington Industries of Glasgow, a veteran of WW II, and was a member of Lauderdale A.R.P. Church of Lexington, and the V.F.W. Post #1499. Survivors include two daughters, Margie Bennett, Sabinal, Texas, and Catherine Chaplin, Raphine; two sons, Harry Chaplin, Elkton, Md., and Jerry Chaplin, Lexington; two sisters, Lula Campbell, Lynchburg, and Alice C. Irvine, Lexington; four brothers, Edward Chaplin, Staunton, Ernest Chaplin, Lexington, Baxter Chaplin, Tocoma, Wa., and Bennie Chaplin, Lexington; also two grandsons. Funeral services will be conducted from the Harrison Funeral Chapel, Friday, July 7, 1995, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Zeb Carson Williams officiating. Burial will be in Rockbridge Memorial Gardens. HUFFMAN, Irene Craft, 81, of New Castle died Monday, July 3, 1995, in a Roanoke nursing home. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Camelia and Steve Crowder, and one grandson, Steven Crowder. KOGER, Lora Akers, 90, formerly of Rt. 4, Bassett, died Monday, July 3, 1995 at the Blue Ridge Rehabilitation Center, Martinsville. Born in Patrick County, May 28, 1905, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Prophet Akers and Georgia Anna Akers Akers. She was a member of Sanville Home Extension Club, and Stanleytown United Methodist Church, where a funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Charles Wickham officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Burial Park, Martinsville. Mrs. Koger was also preceded in death by her son, H. D. Koger, and brothers, Eugene W. Akers and Curtis W. Akers. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Inez) Howell, Bassett; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Dorothy Koger, Basse tt; grandchildren, R.E. Howell Jr., Stuart, Rodney Howell and Lee Koger, Bassett, Akers Koger, Virginia Beach; great-grandchildren, Nicole Howell, Jennifer Howell, Meredith Howell, Luke Howell, all of Stuart, Dan Howell, Kristi Howell, and Kimberly Howell, all of Bassett; and one great-great-grandson, Dustin Howell, Stuart. REED, Lafayette Slusher, 88, of Willis, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 1995 at his home. Survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Hobert (Lula) Marshall, Mrs. Vergie Cox, both of Indian Valley, and Mrs. Edna Akers, Willis; sister-in-law, Mrs. Edna Reed, Willis; several nieces and nephews. TICE, Vivian Yates, 71, of Pearisburg, died Tuesday, July 4, 1995, following an extended illness. Mrs. Tice was a retired school teacher in the Giles County School System, with almost four decades of service. She was a member of the Pearisburg First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Mrs. Tice was born in Grundy, Va. on May 7, 1924 and was a daughter of the late Robert and Malinda Deel Yates. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alton Tice. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Pat Tice, Blacksburg, David and Karla Tice, Menomonee, Wisc.; two brothers, Aubrey Yates, Abingdon, Robert (Jack) Yates, Crystal River, Fla.; three sisters, Annabell Elswick, Magdalene Sage, both of Virginia Beach, Linda VanDyke, Grundy; and three grandchildren. Funeral servic es will be conducted Thursday, July 6, 1995 at 11 a.m. in the Pearisburg First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with the Rev. Jesse Kearns officiating. Burial in the Sunrise Cemetery, Radford, Va.
