RADFORD, MIDDLETON POST FCS VICTORIES

Bobby Radford grabbed the lead from pole-sitter Rick Sigmon on the first lap and held on for the victory in the Late Model Stock Car division of the National Pistol Association/Nelson Ford 350 at Franklin County Speedway on Tuesday.

Radford survived several yellow flags and charges from the field of 21 cars to win the 100-lap feature.

Mike Porter finished second, Dudley Lawhorn was third, Jimmy Mullins fourth and Orvil Reedy fifth.

In the Southern Modifieds Auto Racing Teams (SMART) 50-lap shootout, Billy Middleton of Germantown, N.C., raced to the victory after trading the lead with Roger Hill of Mount Airy, N.C.

Jay Foley of Stuart brought out the first caution on lap 20 when his engine blew. Another caution came out on lap 29 when Kenny Minter of Martinsville and Hill tangled, sending Minter backward down the front stretch at 100 mph before he came to rest in the infield.

Frank Flemming finished second with Gene Pack third, Aubrey Fisher fourth and Hill fifth.

In other events:

Dean Cannaday won the Pure Stock race, followed by Tom Dooley in second, Jay Perry in third, Danny Wickham in fourth and Doc Holiday in fifth.

In the Street Stocks, Mike Elkins won with Freddie Goff second, Mike Dudley third, David Smith fourth and David Stout fifth.

Gary Joyce won the Mini Stock race, with James Cox second, Travis Sharpe third, Bobby Hurt fourth and Gary Clifton fifth.

In the Rookie division, Ricky Ferguson won, followed by Bobby Davis in second, Mark Stoner in third, David Duncan in fourth and Sam Rader in fifth.

Tommy Hall won the Any Car race.
