BLACKSBURG PARADE WINNERS ANNOUNCED|

More than 50 vehicles, walking units and floats took part in the ninth annual Blacksburg Fourth of July parade. With a theme of "Red, White and Blooming," the parade was organized by the Mount Tabor Ruritan Club and led by Grand Marshal Susan Garrison. Boy Scout Troop 44, chartered to the Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, was the parade color guard.

Harmony Farm received the trophy for best overall unit for its horse and carriage, and the blooms of the Sierra Club received the trophy for best theme representation. Troop 44 received the best youth unit award for its outdoor adventure club.

Special first place blue ribbons were presented to: Cub Pack 56, Christine and Michael Hulburt, Jessie Glass, Whitney Abraham, Amy Russell, the Merrimac Group, Electric Pick-Up Truck, Vinyl Vision's Signs, Blue Ridge Model-A Club, Jennifer Rappaport, Christopher McGill, and Doris and Del Dyer.

Judges for the parade were Helen Judkins, Wes Judkins and Craig Smith.
