HAIRSTON CARRIES WEST

Bassett's Kim Hairston hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the West, taking the Virginia High School Coaches' Association girls' all-star basketball game into overtime Monday.

In the extra session, the East ran out of personnel as four players fouled out and the West won 83-80.

Hairston, headed to Radford University, was named the West's most valuable player after she scored 14 points. Hairston led a fourth-quarter rally as she hit for nine points, including a pair of 3-pointers.

However, no one came close to the East's Danielle Golay of Osbourn. Golay, who will play for Seton Hall, scored 30 points and hauled down 21 rebounds before fouling out.

The victory is the fifth in a row for the West.
