2 CHARGED IN BOTETOURT BREAK-INS

Two men released from prison earlier this year have been charged in connection with six Botetourt County break-ins this spring.

Tracy Glenn Turner, 26, and Garrett Dean Epperson, 38, each face six charges of grand larceny and six burglary charges, Botetourt County Sheriff Reed Kelly said.

The two men are accused of breaking into the county landfill, the state highway department shops in Buchanan, a convenience store and three homes, and stealing tools, radios, money, guns and electronic equipment.

Kelly said the break-ins occurred in May and June.

Turner, who was arrested July 5, is in Botetourt County Jail. Epperson is in Roanoke County Jail after being arrested in Vinton on charges of petty larceny and breaking and entering.

Epperson was taken into custody after Vinton police found him at the scene of a burglary at the Lancerlot Sports Complex, Kelly said.

With the arrests, the Botetourt Sheriff's Office potentially has cleared all burglaries reported this year. Kelly said the county has had 15 burglaries in 1995.
