The Red Cross will close its disaster relief centers in Buena Vista and Glasgow after today and consolidate the operation at Rockbridge County High School. Service centers in Madison; Roanoke; Lexington; and Bluefield, W.Va., will continue to be open until further notice.
Free disaster-related legal assistance, offered initially at disaster assistance centers, will continue to be available by telephone at (800) 267-9152. The crisis task force of the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Bar Association has arranged for volunteer attorneys to answer the phones from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, for the next four weeks.
Environmental Directions Inc., a Roanoke environmental consultant, is offering half-price testing of wells for flood victims whose drinking water may have been contaminated.
