`MILITIA DAYS AT EXPLORE'

Virginia's Explore Park will host ``Militia Days at Explore'' on July 22-23. Colonial re-enactors from several Eastern seaboard states will impersonate redcoats, kilted Highlanders and Tory militias fighting against George Washington's Bluecoats.

Visitors can speak with the men, women and children at the various encampments and witness life in the 18th century first-hand.

A drill competition will begin July 22 at 11 a.m., followed by a welcome by Del. Morgan Griffith and a public reading, ``The Story of the Struggle.'' Saturday afternoon includes a ladies' afternoon social and children's colonial games.

Colonial worship services will take place July 23 at 10:30 a.m., followed by weapons competitions at 11 a.m., a public reading at 1 p.m. and battle at 2 p.m.

The park is located at milepost 115 on the Blue Ridge Parkway and is open from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, Sunday and Monday through October. Admission prices are $4 for adults and $2.50 for students 6 to 18.
