HURT PARK SHOOTING SUSPECT CHARGED

Police have charged a 19-year-old Northwest Roanoke man in the shooting of another man in the Hurt Park housing development Monday afternoon.

Anthony Cotton, of the 800 block of Hunt Avenue, was charged Tuesday with malicious wounding and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Cotton was released from Roanoke City Jail on bond. Police said the 32-year old victim, Bobby Casey, identified the suspect.

Casey, of the 100 block of 17th Street, was shot in the stomach about 2:30 p.m. He remained in stable condition at Community Hospital of Roanoke Valley on Thursday.
