Virginia's sheriffs are out to raise $25,000 to aid Virginians affected by last month's flooding. Sheriffs in many of the 21 localities declared disaster areas have been heavily involved in helping the flood victims, the Virginia Sheriffs' Institute said.
The Richmond-based organization is paying all expenses related to raising the funds, so 100 percent of the money will go to those in need.
Requests are being mailed to Virginia residents. Donations may be sent to the institute at 9507 Hull Street Road, Suite D, Richmond 23236.
