ALDA M. BOWER, formerly controller at Akzo Nobel Coatings Inc. in Roanoke and now retired, has been elected vice president of the Institute of Management Accountants for 1995-96. Bower was president of the Roanoke chapter of IMA in 1985-86. She was president of the Virginia Regional Council in 1989-90 and was a national director in 1990-92.

JOHN D. KELLY has joined Premier Bank Inc. as assistant vice president. He will be a regional supervisor over the Shawsville and Salem operations of Premier. He has 10 years of real estate and consumer lending experience, most recently with Salem Bank & Trust.

NICOLE BASTIN has been appointed coordinator for the Radford University/Virginia Western Community College Partnership Project in Roanoke. She will facilitate students transferring from VWCC's two-year programs to Radford's four-year programs.

WILLIAM S. MERCER has been appointed by Gov. George Allen to the Advisory Board on Physical Therapy. He is vice president and director of services for Professional Therapies of Roanoke Inc.
MANUFACTURING
PAUL W. MARTIN of Vinton has joined The Bacova Guild Ltd. as head of the sewing department, the company's largest department. Martin brings to Bacova nearly 30 years of management experience in textile and apparel production facilities, most recently in an engineering and management consultant position with Ottenheimer & Co. in Hillsville.
Also at Bacova, TAMMY RYDER has been named programmer/analyst in the management information systems department; SUSAN LAYMAN has been promoted to supervisor in the accounts receivable department; DONNA RUCKER has been named supervisor of the credit department; and JUDY HODGE was named to the newly created position of quality auditing.
MORTGAGE LENDER
JAMES B. CHIDESTER has been named vice president and branch manager of American Home Funding Inc.'s newly opened Roanoke office. Chidester has been in the mortgage banking business for 13 years, most recently with Crestar Mortgage in Roanoke. Also at the company, ANGELA H. APGAR has been named a loan officer and STEPHANIE STEWART a loan processor.
