Ronald A. Jennings Sr., 41, was one of the U.S. Marshals Service's ``15 Most Wanted'' fugitives.
Jennings had been serving a 50-years-to-life sentence at the District of Columbia Department of Corrections Occoquan facility in Northern Virginia on convictions of armed robbery, assault with intent to kill and escape.
He has a criminal record stretching back to 1969 that includes convictions of homicide, armed robbery and armed assault and a charge of kidnapping, according to Bill Licatovich, a spokesman for the service.
Jennings' escape was his third successful one since 1977, the Marshals Service said.
He was apprehended after his earlier escapes while committing violent, firearms-related felonies, the service said.
