DANVILLE - Intertape Polymer Corp. will create 66 new jobs and expand its Pittsylvania Industrial Park plant to manufacture a new product, stretch-wrap packaging. The company now makes pressure-sensitive tape.
Intertape Polymer, based in Montreal, plans to invest more than $20 million in the manufacturing of its new stretch-wrap products. The largest potential for the new product is the wrapping of agricultural products, such as silage, in 500-pound packages. Products enclosed in this wrap will have a shelf life of three years.
Melbourne F. Yull, chairman and chief executive officer of the company, said Monday that he was pleased the new product will be manufactured in Pittsylvania County. ``The community has supported the company and has proved to be a good place to do business,'' he said.
Gov. George Allen gave the locality $200,000 for site preparation from the state's Opportunity Fund.
