Kollmorgen Corp., Waltham, Mass., parent of Inland Motor and Industrial Drives in Radford, reported net income of $1.8 million, or 13 cents per share, on sales of $58.9 million for the second quarter, compared with year-earlier $1.2 million, or 6 cents per share, on sales of $49.8 million.
For the first six months, net income was $3 million, or 19 cents per share, on sales of $112.3 million, compared with year-earlier $2 million, or 9 cents per share, on sales of $93.9 million.
Reynolds Metals
Reynolds Metals Co. reported second-quarter net income of $111 million, or $1.51 per share, on sales of $1.86 billion, compared with year-earlier $12 million, or 5 cents per share, on sales of $1.46 billion.
For the first half-year, the Richmond aluminum maker, with recycling operations in Roanoke, reported net income of $193 million, or $2.64 per share, on sales of $3.53 billion, compared with a year-earlier net loss of $9 million, equal to 41 cents per share, on sales of $2.72 billion.
Tultex
Tultex Corp., Martinsville fleecewear maker with operations in Roanoke, reported a second-quarter net loss of $62,000, equal to 1 cent per share, on sales of $120.9 million, compared with a year-earlier net loss of $3 million, equal to 11 cents per share, on sales of $101.9 million.
For the first half year, Tultex reported a net loss of $11.8 million, equal to 41 cents per share, on sales of $205.1 million, compared with year-earlier net loss of $7.9 million, equal to 29 cents per share, on sales of $188.2 million.
