BOX, Vera Copenhaver, 86, of Marion, died Monday, July 17, 1995 in Smyth County Community Hospital. Mrs. Box was a graduate of Marion College and Emory & Henry College. She was a former school teacher in Smyth County. She was a lifetime member of Greenwood United Methodist Church, serving in many capacities including pianist and treasurer. She is survived by her husband, Everette H. Box of Marion; one daughter and son-in-law, Darleyne and Archie B. Atwell of Ceres; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Linda Box of Marion; three granddaughters, Kimberly Keesee, Gina Carr and Jamie King; two grandsons and wives, Charles and Melissa Atwell, James and Kathy Atwell; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 19,1995 at 2 p.m. at Greenwood United Methodist Church with Rev. Arlin Shupe and Rev. M ike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. CALLAWAY, George Fletcher, 70, 1515 Woods Rd., apt 314, Winston-Salem, N.C., died Saturday night Saturday, July 15, 1995 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Mr. Callaway was born November 23, 1915 in Mt. Airy N.C. to Samuel Fletcher and Mary Louise Broske Callaway. He had lived in Danville and Roanoke for a number of years before moving to Windston-Salem, N.C. in 1990. He was owner and operator of Callaway Sign Shop. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Roanoke and served in the Army during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Mamie Watson Callaway, of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Betsy) Freeman, Pfaffetown, N.C.; Mrs. Robert (Mary Sue) Fellows, Winston-Salem; two granddaughters, Christa Mongero and Robin Mongero; one sister, Rebecca Sue Callaway, Mt. Airy, N.C.; one brother, Charles L. and wife, Florence Callaway, Milwaukee, Wis.; one sister-in-law, Harriel W. Porter, Winston-Salem, N.C. She was preceded in death by her husband, Terry Richard Edwards; one daughter, Lucille Farmer; and one son, L.D. Edwards. GRUBB, Ralph L., 69, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, July 16, 1995. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Wilkey Grubb; a son, Gary L. Grubb; his parents, Chester ``Juice"" and Mabel Grubb. He was a member of Greenridge Baptist Church and worked for NASA from its inception through the lunar landings and beyond until his retirement in 1980. HAMRICK, William A. Sr., (``Bill""), of Roanoke, died Monday, July 17, 1995. He was a career veteran of the U.S. Navy
having served both during World War II and Vietnam. Mr. Hamrick was a member of the V.F.W. and also a life member of the High Nooners Club. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Burke. MORRIS, Laura Lee, 96, of Fancy G ap, died Sunday evening, July 16, 1995 at the home of her niece, Evelyn Botschen. Miss Morris was born in Carroll Co. Va. July 19, 1898, daughter of the late Silas L. and Laura Frances Billings Morris. She was a retired postal clerk for the U.S. Postal Service, Fancy Gap, and a member of Fancy Gap United Methodist Church where she served as church pianist and organist for many years and worked extensively with the children of the church. She is survived by the children of her sister, Mrs. Gussie Hawks which includes two nieces, Mrs. Evelyn Botschen and family of Fancy Gap, and Mrs. JoAnne Blow and family of Cincinnati, Ohio; two nephews, Morris Hawks and family, Donald Hawks all of Fancy Gap; the descendants of her other siblings which include the John Morris descendants and the Lizzie Branscome descendants of North Carolina; and the W. R. Morris descendants and the Rhoda Bolen descendants of Virginia. Miss Morris was also preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Etta Mitchell and a brother, Minor Morris. Miss Morris was attended in her later months by a special great-niece, her namesake, Laural Leigh Botschen Yianopolous of Galax. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning July 19, 1995 at 11 a.m. at the Fancy Gap United Methodist Church with services conducted by the Rev. Michael Branscome and the Rev. Layne Pennington. Burial will follow in the Morris Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, N.C. where her body will remain until time to be taken to the church to lie in state one hour before the service. When not at the funeral home the family will be receiveing friends at the home of Mrs. Evelyn Botschen. TROUT, Lester R. Sr., 83, of Roanoke, died Sunday, July 16, 1995. He was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the Church of God of Prop hecy in Southwest Roanoke. Mr. Trout was a Navy Veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hettie P. Trout; an infant daughter and a daughter, Constance Marie Poff; one grandson, David R.
