Bedford County Circuit Judge William Sweeney found Shang Stanley, 21, guilty and ordered a pre-sentence report. Two other charges against Stanley connected to the incident were dismissed.
Stanley was arrested in February after his then 4-month-old daughter was taken to a hospital emergency room with internal bleeding, multiple bruises and bite marks.
At first, Stanley told social service officials that he didn't know how the child was injured and blamed it on other children living in the house, Commonwealth's Attorney Randy Krantz said. Stanley later told police that he accidentally dropped the child and she suffered bite marks and other bruises from his attempts to resuscitate her.
A sentencing date has not been set.
