GREENWAY WORKSHOPS BEGIN

The Roanoke Valley Greenways and Open Space Steering Committee will hold the first of three planning workshops Monday evening at the Roanoke Civic Center Exhibit Hall.

Charles Flink, president of Greenways Inc., a consultant hired by the steering committee, will present a slide show titled "Greenways in the USA." The workshops are open to families, and children age 12 and up will be invited to participate.

Videos and other displays of greenways will be available for preview beginning at 5 p.m. Registration for the workshop is at 6 p.m., and it kicks off at 6:30.

Two other workshops will be held in Roanoke Valley. The second is scheduled for Aug. 17 at the William Byrd High School cafeteria in Vinton. The third will be held in the Salem High School cafeteria in Salem.

The times for those workshops are the same as Monday's.
