SUBDIVISION-ROAD HEARING WEDNESDAY

The Virginia Department of Transportation has proposed revisions in its standards for the construction of subdivision roads and will hold a public hearing on them Wednesday at the VDOT district office in Salem.

The revisions are intended to make the standards easier to understand, allow for more flexibility in construction, and fairly address economic and environmental concerns, the department said.

Copies of the revisions are available at VDOT residency offices in Salem, Rocky Mount, Martinsville, Christiansburg, Bedford and Hillsville.

The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. at the district office on Harrison Avenue. For more information, call (804)225-4491.

Other hearings will be in Abingdon on Tuesday and Richmond on July 31.
