DOBBINS, Johnnie W. Sr., 63, of Pulaski, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 1995, at Pulaski Community Hospital. He was a retired employee of the Lynchburg Foundry in Radford, with 38 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his wife, Martha W.Dobbins, Pulaski; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ralph E. and Debbie Dobbins, Pulaski, Tommy and Linda Dobbins Jr., Dublin; five grandchildren, Amber, Justin, Corey and Katelyn Dobbins, and Krystal Matusevich; and one great-grandchild, Hunter Matusevich. Funeral services will be held Satueday, July 22, 1995, at 11 a.m. at the Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Pulaski, with the Rev. Jack Stevens and the Rev. Kim Goddard officiating. Interment will follow in Hickman Cemetery in Pulaski County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Pulaski County Rescue Squad or charity of your choice. ANGLE, Herbert Leo, 72, of Hardy, passed away Thursday, July 20, 1995. He was retired from Harris Hardwood. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Gladys McGuire Angle; one son, Kenneth Leo Angle, Vinton; two daughters, Patricia Gail Neighbors, Lawrenceville, Ga., Rebecca Susan Chaffin, Hardy; two brothers, John Robert Angle, Roanoke, Alva D. Angle, Wirtz; three sisters, Judy Thompson, Roanoke, Rowena Boone, Vinton, Ivy Rose Brubaker, Rocky Mount; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 22, 1995, from the Nineveh Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. C. Berkley Stevens officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. BLANKENSHIP, Marcella Ann Weeks, 67, of Roanoke, died Thursday, July 20, 1995. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Douglas M. Jr. and Wilma Weeks, Roanoke; daughters and sons-in-law, Debra W. and Norman Schilling, Melody W. and Donald Graham, Susie W. and David Clement, all of Roanoke, Tammy W. Stewart, Elliston; a brother, Jabe H. Cox, Roanoke; sister, Toy E. Puckett, Roanoke; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a special friend, Jack Oakes. BOBBITT, Emily Derrickson, died in Columbia, S. C. at the home of her daughter, Clavert B. Klopp on Thursday, July 20, 1995. Mrs. Bobbitt was born in Norfolk, Virginia on October 20, 1920, the daughter of James W. and Emily Taylor Derrickson. She married Mr. Bobbitt of Rocky Mount, North Carolina in Norfolk on February 7, 1942. For many years they lived at Episcopal High School in Alexandria Virginia where Mr. Bobbitt was business manager. In 1969 the Bobbitts moved to Rockbridge County, Virginia where they had a farm. Mr. Bobbitt died on April 19, 1990 and Mrs. Bobbitt continued to live at WEB Hill Farm until her death. She was an active member of R. E. Lee Memorial Church where she was a faithful participant In the Order of St. Luke. She was a long time member of the Garden Club of Virginia, the Colonial Dames of America and the Junior Leage of Norfolk. She is survived by two children and their spouses, William E. Bobbitt, Jr. and Mandy McCormick Bobbitt of Greenville, Va. and Calvert Bobbitt Klopp and F. Michael Klopp of Columbia, South Carolina; and four grandchildren, Miles C. Bobbit, Alexander W. Bottitt, Emily B. Klopp and Margaret F. Klopp. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Barbara Derrickson of Norfolk, Va. and Mary Wood Bobbitt and Anita Bobbitt of Rocky Mount, North Carolina. A memorial service will be held at R. E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church in Lexington, Va. on Saturday, July 22, 1995 at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to R. E. Lee Church, Lexington, Virginia. Interment will be at Pine View Cemetery in Rocky Mount, North Carolina at 2 p.m. Sunday Afternoon.

BURNETT, Iturea Weeks, 99, of Floyd, died Thursday, July 20, 1995. Born November 14, 1895, she was the daughter of the late Elizah G. and Catherine Smith Weeks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Eddie Samuel Burnett, and her son, Eddie Samuel Burnett Jr. She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Mrs. George H. (Anna) Elcan Jr., Lynchburg, Mr. and Mrs. John T. (Ethel) Roge rs, Hopewell; Mr. and Mrs. O. Wesley (Frances) Larsen, Acton, Mass, Mrs. Charles (Evelyn) Bondurant Jr., Salem; a sister, Mrs. Horace N. (Perna) Wright, Stanleytown; six grandchildren; Nancy Rogers Rae, Charlottesville, Katherine Yeatts Brown, Roanoke, Anne Elcan, Judd Forest, George H. Elcan III, Lynchburg, Stephen B. Larsen, Acton, Mass, and Rebecca S. Larsen, Oklahoma City; 12 great-granchildren; three great-great-granchildren. She was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Floyd, the Zion Ladies Aid Society, the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Floyd Courthouse Chapter, the Floyd Garden Club and the New River Valley Historical Society. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Paul Pingle and Pastor Mark Graham officiating. Interment in Jacksonville Cemetery, Floyd. Visitation at Zion Lutheran Church will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and other times at her residence in Floyd. CALLAHAN, Louise Hudgins, 75, of Vinton, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, July 19, 1995. She was a member of the Vinton Baptist Church. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Albert B. Callahan; her daughter, Teresa Martin, Vinton; her son and daughter-in-law, Alvin and Dolly Callahan, Vinton; four grandchildren, Basil and Melanie Martin, Elizabeth and Ellen Callahan; one great-grandchild, Anthony Martin, all of Vinton; two loving sisters, Evelyne Hurt, Easton, Md., Edna Hunnings, New Bern, N.C. Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Vinton Chapel 11:30 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Dr. William L. Ross officiating. CAMPBELL, Rev. Frances E., 81, of Roanoke, died at her residence at Brandon Oaks, Tuesday, July 18, 1995. She was born in Crystal, Mich. to the late Frederick and Arville Hare, and was preceded in death by her husband, Loyal M. Campbell. Survivors include a sister, Margaret Boeff of Bancroft, Mich. She was a Deacon of the Episcopal Church, ordained in 1960 after completing her training at the Central House for Deaconesses in Evanston, Ill. For over ten years she served as Director of Bloomfield, Inc. for Handicapped Children, Ivy. Since 1979 she has served as Deacon at St. Thomas Church, Christiansburg, and as a member of the Order of St. Luke. The Rt. Rev. Heath Light, Bishop of Southwestern Virginia will preside at a memorial service Wednesday, July 26, 1995, 11 a.m. in St. Thomas Episcopal Church, Christiansburg. Memorials may be made to the Americ an Cancer Society, 118 N. Franklin St., Christiansburg, Va. 24073, or to Good Samaritan Hospice, Inc., 3825 Electric Rd., Roanoke. COMPTON, Zella Underwood, 72, of Salem, formerly of Floyd Co., passed away Thursday, July 20, 1995 in a Salem hospital. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Winston Poff, Copper Hill; one son and daughter-in-law, Doras and Marie Weddle, Roanoke; three sisters, Ruby Agnew, Ava Wells both of Floyd, Larma Harman, Martinsville; one brother, Gilbert Underwood, Bassett; a special sister-in-law, Rosetta Underwood, Roanoke; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. DOWELL, James Schooler (``Jimmy""), 60, of the Walkers Creek, Cleghorn Valley community, Marion, died Wednesday, July 19, 1995, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon. He is survived by his wife, Martha E. Dowell, Marion; one son, Bobby Joe Dowell, Bristol, Tenn.; two daughters, Brenda D. Blevins, Charleston, S.C., and Becky D. Dunavan, Troutdale; one brother, Roger Dowell, Marion; three sisters, Virginia Hamm, Winston-Salem, N.C.; Carol Jones and Linda Atwell, Marion. Also four grandchildren survive. GROSS, Claude Eugene, 64, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 1995, at his residence. He was a former employee of the Norfolk & Western Railroad, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and a member of the V.F.W. Post #4522 in Vinton. He was also a member of 17th Street Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Annie Atkins Gross; one son and daughter-in-law, Charles Eugene and Doris Gross, Moneta; one brother, Carl William Gross, Roanoke; two sisters, Fannie Jane Richards, Bedford County, Pearl Earnestine Hartman, Montvale; one granddaughter, Amy Renee Gross. SARVER, Victoria Mabry, 73, of 911 Dunlap Road, Dublin, passed away Thursday, July 20, 1995, in the Radford Community Hospital. Born September 1, 1921, in Pulaski County, she was the daughter of the late Charlie Austin Mabry and Florence Mabry Mabry. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Eugene (""Jiggs"") Sarver, and also five sisters and two brothers. She was a member of the Dublin Baptist Church, Dublin. Surviving are one dauthger and son-in-law, Mrs. James (Vickey) McCraw and James (Jimbo) McCraw, Dublin; one son and daughter-in-law, Barry Eugene Sarver and Jeanette Sarver, Dublin; one granddaughter, Andi McCraw, Dublin; one grandson, Isaac Sarver, Dublin; one sister, Dorothy Miles, Radford; one brother, William Mabry, Dublin; a number of special nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be held Sunday, 2 p.m., at the Dublin Baptist Church with the Rev. Phil Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in the Highland Memory Gardens, Dublin. SELLS, George Dewey, 82, of Volney, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 1995 at Twin County Regional Hospital, Galax, Va. He was born February 7, 1913 in Volney, Va. to Mack and Phina Rutherford Sells. He was a retired employee of Hercules Powder Company and a self-employed merchant. Surviving are his wife, Georgia Wells Sells, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Kenneth Weaver, Rugby; three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth Maynard and Kay Sells, Donald and Irene Sells, all of Volney, Dennis Marvin and Shirley Sells, Hickory N.C.; daughter, Frances Sells, Galax; sis ter and brother-in-law, Alma and Robert Rutherford, Volney; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two stepgrandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 1995 in Little Wilson United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ken Blevins and the Rev. Arlin Shupe officiating. Interment in Little Wilson Cemetery. The body will remain at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, Va., and will be taken to the church thirty minutes preceding funeral services. STANLEY, Elsie Smith, 70, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, July 19, 1995. A native of Honolulu, Hawaii, she was the daughter of the late George and Lizzy Tami-You Smith. Survivors include her husband, B.M. Stanley; two sons, Robert Stanley, Roanoke, and Jack M. Stanley, Florida; a sister, Cecile Libby, California; two grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was a member and Deacon of the Dublin Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Annie D. Williams of Birdmont Manor; one son, Rev. Larry R. Williams, Narrows; one daughter, Mrs. Nancy Hendrix, Brandon, Miss.; two sisters, Gracie B. Anderson, Dublin, and Mrs. Katherine Young, Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, David Williams of South Carolina and William Williams; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. WRIGHT, Myrtle Lee, of Roanoke, passed away, July 19, 1995. She was a member of the First Nazarene Church and was retired from American Viscose. She is survived by a foster sister, Porty Ring; special friend Claire Meade, nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted noon time Saturday, July 22, 1995 at Hebron Church Cemetary, Craig County with the Rev. Carter Sloan officiating. Friends may call after 10 am. Friday.
