PULASKI - Pulaski Town Councilwoman Alma Holston has been named to the Legislative Committee of the Virginia Municipal League, which will be looking at federal legislation and budget issues when it meets in Richmond Aug. 2.
Other committee members from the region include Radford City Councilwoman Polly Corn, Roanoke Mayor David Bowers and Vinton Town Manager Clay Goodman.
Fall classes signing up
DUBLIN - Registration for fall classes is in progress at New River Community College. Classes will start August 22.
Hundreds of courses, from biology to business management, English, computer information systems, drafting, economics, nursing and many others are available for credit.
Registration, which continues until August 25, can be completed at either the Dublin campus or at Appalachian Hall, the college's Christiansburg site at 412 Roanoke St. Students may reserve semester clases and delay tuition payment until August 7.
