EX-BUC MAKES IT 3 IN A ROW

Steve Parris won his third consecutive start and had a pair of doubles, one of which drove in two runs, to lead the Pittsburgh Pirates to a 7-1 victory over the Montreal Expos on Saturday night at Three Rivers Stadium.

The Pirates have won nine of their past 12 games and eight of their past 10 series. Pittsburgh, which started 1-8 at Three Rivers Stadium, also has won eight of nine at home.

Parris (4-2) has given up two runs in his past 20 innings - an 0.90 ERA - while striking out 21 and walking three during his three-game winning streak. Before that, the right-hander was 1-2 with an 8.15 ERA.

Parris, who pitched for the Salem Buccaneers a year ago, was working on a five-hit shutout until Mike Lansing's seventh-inning triple stopped his 16-inning scoreless streak. He struck out five and walked one.
