POLICE PROBE DEATH

Waynesboro police say they are investigating the death of an 83-year-old woman as a murder.

Thelma Ruth Frasher's body was found in her bedroom July 14, but police were unable to immediately determine how she died.

``Initially we weren't sure we had a crime,'' Lt. W.R. Maki said Friday.``We needed to look into it. As we looked into it more and more, in our best judgment it became a crime.''

An autopsy showed Frasher died from a skull fracture.

Last week, the state's top expert in blood spatter evidence examined blood drops at the scene and determined that Frasher was slain.
