ARGABRIGHT, Ruth Crews, 76, of Roanoke, died Saturday, July 22, 1995. She was the daughter of the late John Edwin and Mary L. Crews, and was preceded in death by her husband, Archie B. Argabright, and three brothers, Ralph Burgess Crews, Milton Lee Crews, and Herman Wilbur Crews. Mrs. Argabright was a member of Calvary Memorial Church, formerly the Franklin Road Church for 60 years. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Steve Hazelwood, Galax; two grandchildren, Kelly Ann and Kerry Lyn Hazelwood, Galax; four brothers, Carlton Brooks Crews, Thaxton, John Ernest Crews, Roanoke, Forest Ray Crews, Baltimore, Md., and Frank Curtis Crews, Roanoke; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 1995 with the Rev. Larry Eenigenburg officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive f riends at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

BLANKENSHIP, Rushie Belle, 88, of Roanoke, died Sunday, July 23, 1995. Arrangements by Lotz Roanoke Chapel.

BROWN, Robert Andrew, 79, of Roanoke, died Sunday, July 23, 1995, in a local nursing home. He was a member of the Grandin Court Baptist Church, the Kazim Temple, Blacksburg Commandery #32, the Cardinal Chorus S.P.E.B.S.Q.S.A. (Barbershop), and Hunters Lodge #156, Blacksburg. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy during World War II and was retired from the Army Ammunition Procurement and Supply Agency. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Phipps Brown; two sisters, Mrs. Charles A. Wright of Roanoke, Mrs. T. K. Tandy of Newark, Del.; two nieces, Mrs. J.C. Hollett of Roanoke, Ree Sexton of San Jose, Calif.; two nephews. Jack S. and Joe Lay of Chester, Va. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 1995, in Cedar Lawn Cemetery with the Rev. Robert M. Hamner officiating. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements by Oakey's South Chapel.

CALDWELL, Cecil Carson, 88, of Fincastle, died Sunday morning, July 23, 1995. He was born February 12, 1907, retiring from the Botetourt County (Ford) Motor Company in Fincastle. He was one of the founding and lifelong members of the Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department, and its past Assistant Chief. He was also a deacon at the Fincastle Baptist Church. Preceding him in death was his son Carson Dwayne Caldwell, may they rest in peace. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gladys Ann Lucas Caldwell; son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Carol June Caldwell, Roanoke; two grandsons, David Alan Caldwell, Fincastle, and Douglas Leon Caldwell, Charlotte, N.C.; sister, Pauline Caldwell Bishop, Cloverdale. Funeral services will be held at the Fincastle Baptist Church Tuesday, July 25, 1995 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. John E. Armitstead officiating, with interment to follow in Godwin Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers donations be made in Cecil's honor to the Fincastle Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Fincastle Volunteer Fire Department. CHATTIN, Lewis Griffin, 68, of Goodview, went to be with the Lord after a long battle with Cancer on Saturday, July 22, 1995. He is survived by his wife, Rachel D. Chattin; sons, Robert Chattin, Goodview, Michael Chattin, Elliston; daughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn Jennings, Vinton, Joy and James Hannabass, Moneta, Nancy and Roger Jones, Princeton, W.Va.; grandchildren, Michael, Kimberly, and Kristi Jennings, Shannon Hannabass, Christopher and Jessica Chattin, Ashley Chattin, Matthew and Trevor Jones; brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Edna Chattin, Goodview; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Phillip Hunt, Roanoke; special friends, Andy Shandor, David Easterling, and Howard Dickerson. Funeral services will be conducted at 12 noon Tuesday, July 25, 1995 at Goodview Baptist Church, with the Rev. Joey Phillips and the Rev. Doby Salmons officiating. HUMPHREYS, Gladys Stull, 79, of Villamont, passed away Saturday, July 22, 1995. She was a member of Villamont Presbyterian Church for 50 years. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Russell Anderson Humphreys; son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Genny Humphreys of Roanoke; three daughters, Sylvia Stubblefield of Richmond, Betty Giles and son-in-law, Robert of Vinton, Linda Zimmerman and son-in-law, Donald of Bedford; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Melvin Stull, Temple City, Calif., Kenneth Stull, Selma; three sisters, Hallie Rose, Louise, Humphries, Ruby Stull, all of Covington. LUCK, Hazel Obenchain, 83, of Montvale, passed away Saturday, July 22, 1995, in Community Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, George (Simmie) Luck. Surviving are a daughter, E. Janice Luck; a son, Robert M. Luck Sr., both of Montvale; a sister, Rachel O. Chryssikos of Bedford; a brother, James W. Obenchain of Manassas; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren. PAINTER, Eugene Marshall, (""Fritz""), 74, of Buchanan, died Sunday, July 23, 1995. He was a WW II Veteran, serving in the European Theatre. He was a member of the Buchanan American Legion Post #93, and had retired from Burlington Industries Glasgow with over 43 years service. Survivors include his wife, Lois H. Painter; daughters and son-in-law, Linda Painter, Carrollton, Ga., Sandy and Charlie O'Connor, Richmond; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Sandy Jean Painter, Frederick, Md.; two sisters, Blanche Worley, Hillsville, Beatrice Carr, Gaithersburg, Md. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, July 25, 1995 at 3 p.m. in Cedar Bluff Baptist Church, with the Dr. W. L. Crane officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Buchanan. POOLE, William Bernard, 83, of Lexington died Saturday, July 22, 1995. Mr. Poole was born December 13, 1911 in Smyth County a son of the late Elbert W. Poole and Myrtle Bennington Poole. He was a member of the McElwee Chapel in Rockbridge Baths, Va. Surviving are one son, J.C. Poole, Rockbridge Baths; two sisters, Mrs. Clayton Flannagan, Crockett, Mrs. D.T. Brewer, Camp; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at the graveside in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens with Dr. G. P. Whiteley officiating. ROLEN, Thomas Eugene Sr., 73, of Pearisburg, died Sunday, July 23, 1995. Mr. Rolen was Plant Superintendent of the A.P. Green Lime Co. He was born at North Holston, Va on March 11, 1922 and was a son of the late William H. and Josephine Wise Rolen, and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Proffitt Rolen; one son, Thomas E. Rolen Jr. of Blacksburg; one daughter, Tamma R. Harrison, Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Bennie Rolen of Ripplemead, Olaf Rolen of Meadowview; five sisters, Elizabeth Starlinss of Glen Burnie, Md., Novella Allison of Glade Springs, Pearl Morrison of Stafford, Earnestine Davidson of Connersville, Ind., Janice Davenport of Marion; three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 25, 1995 at 11 a.m. in the Givens Funeral Chapel, Pearisburg, with the Rev. Shahn Wilburn officiating with interment in the Mt. SMITH, Myrna Ann, 54, of Union Hall, died Saturday, July 22, 1995. Mrs. Smith was employed by Cooper & Lybrand Certified Public Accountants in Washington, D.C. as Executive Secretary to former Pennsylvania Governor Shafer. She was preceded in death by her brother John T. Boyer. Surviving are husband, Rex L. Smith of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, David and Patty Smith of Leesburg; her mother, Mrs. Florence Boyer of Union Hall; one sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and John McDowe of Michigan; also three nieces.
