BLACKSBURG - Author Michael DePasquale will be at University Volume Two Bookstore Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. for a book signing.

DePasquale is the author of several self-defense books, such as "Streetwise Safety for Women," "Streetwise Safety for Children" and the forthcoming "Streetwise Safety for the Elderly" and "Streetwise Safety for the Disabled."

Convenience Center moving

PEARISBURG - The Convenience Center, now in the Ripplemead area of Giles County, will move Aug. 1. The center will be just off U.S. 460 behind Strong's Heating & Air Conditioning in the Hoges Chapel area dumping site.

Hours of operation during the summer are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays.
