After Monday's thunderstorm-delayed first round, the Roanoke trio of Brian Agee, Mark Baldwin and Brian Hill were tied for the lead in the featured 16-18 boys' division. Each recorded 1-over-par 72s on The Waterfront's tree-lined layout.
Three more players, including Roanokers Jacob Jarrett and Tom Lesperance, were tied at 73. Jason Orlando, winner of last year's 14-15 title, opened with a 74.
In the boys' 14-15 class, Waynesboro's Gabe McGann fired a 75 to take a three-shot lead on Roanoke's Trey Clower and Vienna's Matt Allen. Roanoker Brandon LaCroix was next at 79.
Lee Taylor of Roanoke and Matt Chandler of Glade Hill paced the boys' 11-13 division with first-round 78s. Pulaski's Matt Mansell was a distant third, six shots back.
Shelly Scruggs of Gretna shot a 78 to take a three-shot lead in the girls' division.

Four-time champion Dot Bolling heads the field for today's start of the Roanoke Valley Women's Golf Association's annual City-County Championship at Blue Hills Golf Club.
Bolling, who captured the RVWGA title in 1988, '89, '90 and '93, has played well this summer, finishing second to Lee Shirley in the Roanoke Valley Golf Hall of Fame and fourth in the Virginias Women's Stroke Play Championship.
Bolling's primary competition figures to come from two-time winner Marilyn Bussey, 1991 Hall of Fame champion Mar-C Milona and four-time Virginia Senior Women's titlist Audrey Najjum.
Defending champion Sara Cole and Shirley are not entered in the 56-player field.
The 54-hole tournament continues Wednesday at Hanging Rock and concludes Thursday at Roanoke Country Club.
