Bennett graduated from Pulaski High School in 1991 and joined the Coast Guard in April 1995. He is the son of Jerry and Kathy Bennett of Dublin.
Navy ensign Stephen Lewis recently graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned to his current rank in the U.S. Navy. He received a degree in oceanography. At the academy, Lewis was a member of the Silent Drill Team in 1992.
A 1991 graduate of Blacksburg High School, Lewis' next duty station is at the Naval Flight Training School in Pensacola, Fla. Lewis is married to the former Geremy Alvarez of Blacksburg. He is the son of Jack and Mary Lewis of Blacksburg.
|n n| Army National Guard Pvt. Joseph Meyer IV recently entered basic training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He will be in training for eight weeks.
Meyer graduated from Auburn High School in 1993. He is the son of Patricia Akers of Christiansburg.
|n n| Navy fireman James Zahn of Radford recently returned to Norfolk from a six-month overseas deployment to the Mediterranean Sea. Zahn graduated from Auburn High School in 1994 and joined the Navy in October 1994. He is the son of James and Kasella Zahn of Radford.
|n n| Marine Pfc. Jay Wynn of Christiansburg recently completed the aviation support equipment technician course at Naval Air Station Memphis in Millinton, Tenn. A 1993 graduate of Christiansburg High School, Wynn joined the Marine Corps in September 1994. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wynn of Christiansburg.
|n n| Marine Pfc. Daniel Ratcliffe recently graduated from the aviation structural mechanic hydraulics maintenance course at Naval Air Station Memphis in Millinton, Tenn. Ratcliffe graduated from Giles High School in 1993 and joined the Marine Corps in October 1994. He is the son of Marcie Bishop of Blacksburg and Bentley Ratcliffe of Pearisburg.
