A nude man spent about 20 minutes along heavily traveled Interstate 64 in Hampton before a state police officer took him into custody around 9 a.m. Wednesday. By the time officers found the man, he had fashioned a cross out of two sticks.
Police were trying to identify the man. He was held in the Hampton City Jail, where doctors were evaluating him, said state police spokeswoman Tammy Van Dame.
Authorities got more than 100 calls from motorists about the pedestrian, Van Dame said.
