Panthers' exhibition broadcast on WFNR

CHRISTIANSBURG - WFNR (710 AM) airs the Carolina Panthers' first exhibition game Saturday, 1:30 p.m., against the new Jacksonville Jaguars. WFNR plans to carry Panthers' games throughout the season.

Clown show closes reading program

RADFORD - Radford Public Library will end its Summer Reading Program Saturday with a performance by Barnabas de Clown. The program will be at 1:30 p.m.

Children who completed the Readers of the Roundtable reading program will receive a certificate and a book for their participation. Those who cannot attend Saturday's program can stop at the library to receive their awards.

The library will not have any storytime programs in August. Its regular schedule will begin Sept. 12.

Radford High class to hold 50th reunion

RADFORD - The Radford High School class of 1945 will celebrate its 50th reunion, beginning today and continuing through Saturday.

Tonight the class will cook out at Claytor Lake. Friday, from 7 to 9 p.m., the class will gather for a reception at the Best Western Radford Inn.

Saturday will feature a brunch, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Bisset Park shelter 2, for $10. That evening there will be a banquet and dance at the Best Western, from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Planning commission for today canceled

RADFORD - The 1995 New River Valley Planning District Commission meeting scheduled for today, has been canceled. The meeting will not be rescheduled. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be Aug. 24. For more information, call 639-9313.
