REPORTED EARNINGS

DuPont Co., Wilmington, Del.-based chemicals maker operating a nylon plant at Martinsville, reported second-quarter net income of $938 million, or $1.70 per share, on sales of $11.08 billion, compared with year-earlier $792 million, or $1.16, on sales of $10.16 billion. For the six months, net income was $1.89 billion, or $3.07, on sales of $21.58 billion, compared with $1.43 billion, or $2.10, on sales of $19.35 billion.
