FRANKLIN CANDIDATE GETS CAMPBELL COUNTY POST

The Campbell County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously Wednesday night to hire David Laurrell as the county's administrator.

Board member Eddie Gunter Jr. said he is happy the ordeal is over and that he looks forward to working with Laurrell.

``I love his enthusiasm,'' Gunter said. ``I think we are getting an excellent man.''

Laurell was one of five finalists for the job and formerly the assistant county administrator for Franklin County.

He also was Franklin County's public safety director for six years before accepting his present position.

The Campbell County job was left vacant earlier this year when Rusty Talbert died. More than 100 people applied for Talbert's job.
