ROBERT BIANCO, executive director of Brandon Oaks retirement community, has received certification from the American College of Health Care Administrators. The certification involved passing an exam, earning a master's degree in health care administration and attending an executive level program in management.

Bianco also is a fellow in the American College of Health Care Administrators.

RONALD BAILEY, a GMC medium-duty truck salesman for Virginia Truck Center Inc., has earned the professional member qualification level in the 1994 GMC truck five-star performers sales master program.

THE LEGAL AID SOCIETY OF ROANOKE VALLEY has recognized several lawyers from Woods, Rogers & Hazlegrove P.L.C. for their contributions to the society's pro bono program. They are: Nicholas C. Conte, Diane M. Baun, Abigail L. Perkins, Stacy M. Colvin and Thomas M. Winn III. They were recognized for giving more than 40 hours each to the program during 1994.

THE VETERANS AFFAIRS MEDICAL CENTER in Salem recently honored three people on its nursing staff during National Nurses Week. The three were recognized for showing the highest levels of compassion, technical competence and leadership in providing medical care. They are: Phyllis Scruggs of Salem, registered nurse; Martha Quarles of Roanoke, licensed practical nurse; and Delois Lovelace of Roanoke, nursing assistant.
