MYRTLE CONNER and JULIA LAPRADE, two Camp Bethel workers, received awards during the recent national conference of the Church of the Brethren.
Conner, the camp cook for many years, received the Brethren Outdoor Ministries Association camp award, and Laprade received the Camp Volunteer award.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will begin Monday and continue through Aug. 4 at Oak Grove Church of the Brethren, 2138 McVitty Road S.W. The school from 9 a..m. to noon is open to children 4 through junior high school. The theme will be "Along the Road with Jesus."
HOPE WOODARD, a 1995 graduate of Cave Spring High School, is completing a weeklong work camp project in Puerto Rico. She is one of a group from the Virlina District of the Church of the Brethren and is a member of Oak Grove Church.
CHRIST EPISCOPAL CHURCH has begun a program in which laity are trained for visiting the sick and home bound. Twelve members underwent training led by Tissa Burrows of Burrell Nursing Center and the Rev. David Wolfe of the Lewis-Gale Hospital pastoral care staff. Those trained will assist the clergy staff of the church.
A NEW HABITAT HOUSE, one of several that churches and civic groups have erected on Kellogg Avenue Northwest, has been dedicated by representatives of two sponsoring congregations, Cave Spring and Windsor Hills United Methodist churches . They were joined in a July 9 ceremony by representatives of Prayer Temple and its choir, the church of the family occupying the new home.
