Owners' biographies: Linda Hall has worked in an optometrist office since 1980, and when her daughter-in-law, Billie Hall, received her optician's license, the two decided to open their first Myoptics store in Christiansburg six years ago. "I was at a point in my life where I thought, 'Hey, let's do something.'" Early on "she was the licensed optician and I was the doofus," Linda Hall said. Then, two years later, when Billie Hall had a baby, Linda Hall decided it was time to get her own optician's license.
From there, the two have expanded their business. "As the opportunities came up, we took advantage of them," Linda Hall said.
They opened Myoptics stores in downtown Pulaski and Wytheville in conjunction with Dr. E.M. Cube, a Radford ophthalmologist who visits each store every week.
The Halls depend on word-of-mouth for their advertising and try to make personalized service their drawing card. They help their customers choose the best eyeglasses for their coloring, facial shapes and even life styles. "That seems to be what we can do best," Linda Hall said. "We're interested in what they think."
