A BEAT IN THE HEAT

When the Fieldale-Collinsville High School Marching Cavaliers arrived at Virginia Tech for a four-day camp, they got a warm welcome. Very warm. The Henry County band got into town Sundayafternoon and didn't waste any time getting on the Marching Virginians' practice field in the 90-plus-degree heat. The group will maintain a busy schedule each day with marching drills from 7 a.m. - noon, sectional band practices 1:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. and combined drills from 6:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. The band traditionally has a weeks of camp at home and then a second week at an out-of-town site.
