ALTICE, Dortharene (""Dot""), 80, or Route 1, Glade Hill, died Monday, July 31, 1995, at the local hospital. She was a daughter of the late Charlie and Sally Kate Altice and the widow of Lewis Carroll Altice Sr. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Lewis Carroll Jr. and Gladys Altice, Rocky Mount; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Alton Dent, Glade Hill; four grandchildren, Ricky Altice, Linda Guthrie, Kathy Underwood, Jeff Dent; six great-grandchildren, Crystal Diane Altice, Danny Wayne Guthrie, Michael Underwood, Brandon Lee Altice, David Lee Guthrie, Sara Underwood; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug and Elizabeth Altice, Glade Hill, Donnie and Dorothy Altice, Forest; a special niece, Barbara Chitwood, Glade Hill. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Flora Funeral Chapel with the Rev. William Pugh officiating. Interm ent will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. CARPER, William Agner, 63, of Gainesville, Fla., formerly of Roanoke, died Sunday, July 30, 1995 in Gainesville, Florida. Mr. Carper was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served in the U. S. Navy. He was retired with over 30 years service from the City of Roanoke. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Mason Carper; daughter, Mary Lynn Carper; son, William ``Bill"" Carper, all of Gainesville, Fla.; brothers, Koss A. Carper, Colonial Heights, Va., Robert I. Carper, Petersburg, Va.; sister, Mary C. Rule, Radford, Va.; grandson, David S. Carper; granddaughter, Stephanie E. Carper. CASH, Mary Etta, 76, of Pilot, died Friday, July 28, 1995, of injuries received in an auto accident. She was the widow of the late Ernest Carlton Cash. HAYTH, Roy Gillespie Sr., 77, of Roanoke, died Sunday, July 30, 1995. He was a devoted member of West Minster Presbyterian Church in America, and was retired from G E Company. He was a member of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, The Civil War Round Table, Sons of the Confederate Veterans - Fincastle Rifles Camp #1526, Military Order of the Stars and Bars, and was a retiree from I.U.E. local #161. Mr. Hayth wrote historical articles for the Williamson Road Forum, and worked twelve years for the Food Bank. He is survived by his devoted wife of 58 years, Bessie Banton Hayth, Roanoke; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roy G. Jr. and Julia C. Hayth, Roanoke, and Richard S. and Barbara B. Hayth, Bedford Co.; one sister, Mrs. Nelson Brown, Clifton Forge; five grandchidlren, Alan, Michael, Christopher, Eric, and Alicia Hayth; and several nieces. A memorial service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 1995 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in America, with the Rev. John R. Furman and Rev. Jim Edwards officiating. HURT, George Lawrence, 77, of Christiansburg, died Sunday, July 30, 1955, in the VA Hospital in Salem, after a long illness. Mr.. Hurt was born September 28, 1917 in Sanger, W.Va.. He was the son of the late Calvin and Sarah Hair Hurt. Mr. Hurt was a Baptist. He was a retired school administrator in the Virginia public school system, a member of LaFayette Lodge #57 AF & AM, 32nd Degree Mason, a World War II and Korean Conflict Air Forc e veteran. He received his B.S. degree from King College and his Masters Degree from Radford University. Mr. Hurt was preceded in death by three brothers, Dallas K., Robert G., and Quintan Hurt; and one sister, Jessie Woods. Survivors include his former wife, Mary L. Hurt of Vinton; three sons, Charles Robert Hurt, Roanoke, Dallas Jackson Hurt, Sequein, Texas, and James Lawrence Hurt of Bristol, Tenn; three daughters, Debra Hurt Mers of Keystone Heights, Fla., Nancy Hurt Copper of Buchanan, Kim Hurt Adams of Goodview, and Judith Hurt of Clayton, Ga.; one brother, Rufus Hurt of Bent Mountain; one sister, Ruth Hanes of Christiansburg; twenty grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 1, at the Dodd-Payne-Hess Funeral Chapel in Fayetteville, W.,Va. Officiating clergy will be the Rev. Jeff Copper of Buchanan. KIME, Philip Hanner, 93, of Richmond, formerly of Salem, died Sunday, July 30, 1995. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zona Lee Arnold Kime and daughter, Gaynelle Kime Dormire. Surviving are his children, Philip Rodney Kime, Glendale, Calif., Gretchen Kime Morgan, Springfield, Maurice Scott Kime, Alexandria, Carolyn Kime Wooley, Richmond; sons-in-law, Robert M. Wooley, H. Floyd Dormire; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Kime was a writer, poet, an artist in oils and watercolors and was a philosopher. He was retired sanitation agent for the Virginia Health Department working in the Va. Beach area for over 25 years. Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at East Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Lotz Salem Chapel.

MACKENZIE, Frances G., 95, of Roanoke, died Monday, July 3 1, 1995. She was the widow of Herbert H. ""Mac"" MacKenzie. She was a veteran of World War I in the Naval Reserve and retired in 1968 from Cates Building Specialities. She did volunteer work at the V. A. Medical Center for many years. Mrs. MacKenzie was a member of the D.A.V. Auxiliary where she was past State Commander, she was an active member of Northminster Presbyterian Church. Surviving is a devoted friend, Mrs. Charles M. ""Elsie"" Falls, Forest, Va.; sister-in-law, Mrs. Warren Nickerson, Memphis, Tenn.; numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be at Northminster Presbyterian Church at 10 a.m. Thursday August 3, 1995. The Rev. David Kirk will officiate. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery 2 p.m. Monday, August 7, 1995. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
