Co-captains Tiffany Boone and Kim Lovern, both seniors, were selected to go to Paris as part of an All Star dance group. They were recognized as All Star dancers at the Universal Dance Association camp in July. They will join other All Star dancers from across the country in December and perform at the historical Chantilly Chateau. They will also participate in the Parade de Montmartre, Paris '96 on New Year's Day.
In addition to Tiffany and Kim, several other dance team members attended the four-day camp at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington. They were seniors Lisa Wilkerson; juniors Robin Trear, LaToya Price and Cathy Denis; and sophomore Rachael Kesler.
Each Tribe member received a superior rating from evaluations at various competition levels. The dance team also received the camp's Leadership Award and trophies for Superior Drill Team and Overall Superior Performance.
Tiffany and Kim are seeking local civic organizations to help sponsor and fund their trip to Paris to represent Blacksburg. Contributions may be made payable to Kim Lovern and Tiffany Boone, c/o NBB Trust Department, P.O. Box 90002, Blacksburg, Va. 24062-9002.
Six members of the Christiansburg Future Farmers of American chapter were honored at the organization's state convention in June. Five members were named area proficiency award winners. They were Stewart Milton, specialty animal production; Ronnie Bailey, poultry production; Jerry Showman, home and farmstead improvement; David Underwood, forestry production; and Eddie Lane, floriculture.
Two members, Eddie and Matt Adkins, received the state FFA degree during the convention.
The Christiansburg chapter won the Chapter Safety contest for the Appalachian area, received the Superior Chapter Award and was recognized in the Building our American Communities Contest.
Dan Swafford, chapter advisor, was named Outstanding Middle School Agriscience Teacher of Virginia for his work at Christiansburg Middle School.
REMINDERS
Fall class schedules will be sent out the week of Aug. 7 to students attending Christiansburg Middle School. Parents and students who have questions concerning schedules should call the school's counseling office at 382-5196.
Falling Branch Elementary School will have special hours for kindergarten orientation and meet-the-teacher visits.
Kindergarten students and parents may come to the school Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. for orientation.
Students in grades 1-5 and their parents may visit teachers Aug. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. The school will close at 1 p.m. that day to prepare for the visits.

Margaret Beeks Elementary School will have early registration Aug. 7-1 for families who recently moved into the school's district area. Registration will be in the school office from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Children who are 5-years-old by Sept. 30 can enroll in the school. Parents should bring the child's birth certificate and Social Security card. Up-to-date immunizations and physicals are required for all children who enter Virginia schools for the first time.

ATHLETICS
Get ready for football season. Students who are interested in being part of the football program at Blacksburg High School as a player, manager or student trainer, should attend a meeting Wednesday. The meeting will start at 6:30 p.m. in the health room.
Equipment will be issued prior to the meeting according to the following schedule:
Seniors - 5 p.m.
Juniors - 5:15 p.m.
Sophomore - 5:30 p.m.
Freshmen - 6 p.m.
Starting this week, optional stretching and conditioning sessions will be held each evening from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on the practice field.
Students must have completed physical forms on file with the athletic office before participating in the conditioning sessions or practice. Practice starts Monday at 8:30 a.m. For more information, call 951-5706.
There will be an informational meeting Thursday for parents of student who are interested in participating in the football program at Blacksburg High School. The program will cover topics such as insurance, team policies and team camp. Parents will also have the opportunity to read and sign the required forms needed for students' participation.
The program starts at 7:30 p.m. and will in the school's auditorium.
The Christiansburg High School Athletic Foundation is seeking contributions to continue improvements to its athletic complex. Last year's contributions were used to restore the school's track. The tennis courts and lighting at various outdoor facilities are targeted for future improvements.
A $25 contribution will give supporters a parking pass for reserved parking at all home football games this season. For each additional $25, patrons will receive an admission ticket and reserved seating to all home football games.
Contributions should be made the Christiansburg High School Athletic Foundation, 1200 Independence Blvd., Christiansburg, Va. 24073. Parking passes and admissions tickets will be mailed to supporters or can be picked up at the school's main office.
