MORE IMPROVEMENTS AT BONDCOTE

BondCote Corp. is into the second part of its 24-month capital improvements program to modernize manufacturing technology at its two Pulaski County plants.

New equipment is going into the company's Dublin plant, where it weaves the fabric used in its roofing membranes and industrial fabrics, and its Pulaski plant, where it applies coatings to its products.

BondCote Corp. President Thomas J. Petrarca said the improvements reflect encouraging signs of new business growth in the domestic and international markets served by the company.

There is a growing market for woven industrial fabrics, he said. And installing new machinery and equipment will help make his "dedicated work force as productive as possible as we pursue these new business opportunities," he said.

Besides the new weaving and coating equipment, improvements include new air-control technologies to help the plants reach the lowest achievable emission rate requirements set by the Clean Air Act of 1990.

BondCote was founded in 1949 to produce a variety of coated fabrics. It offers products to transportation, agricultural, military, medical, recreation and environmental industries. Its sales and technical services have their headquarters in LaGrange, Ga.

"Our technology investments over the past decades have led to the fact that, today, our Pulaski facility has one of the few in-plant laboratories approved by the U.S. government," Petrarca said. "Our success is based in part on our ability to transfer new coated fabric technology from one industry to another."
