2 DIE IN UNRELATED CAR ACCIDENTS

Two people were killed in the New River Valley in unrelated car accidents within 30 minutes of each other Monday night.

Teena Gray Wingo, 36, of Pulaski was heading south on U.S. 11 at about 11 p.m. near Pulaski County High School when her car crossed the median and into northbound traffic. The car then struck a tree, state police in Wytheville reported Tuesday.

She died at Radford Community Hospital at 12:57 a.m.

Thomas Mario Locher, 37, of Roanoke hit a rock when his truck ran up an embankment. The truck flipped once after running off the right side of Interstate 81 in Montgomery County at 11:28 p.m.

He was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene, according to state police in Salem. He was not wearing a seat belt, state police said.
