HIGHWAY ACCIDENTS LEAVE 2 DEAD

Two Western Virginia residents were killed in highway accidents 30 minutes apart Monday night after they lost control of the vehicles they were driving.

Teena Gray Wingo, 36, of Pulaski was heading south on U.S. 11 near Pulaski County High School about 11 p.m. when her car crossed the median into northbound traffic and struck a tree, state police said.

She died at Radford Community Hospital about two hours later.

She was not wearing a seat belt, state police said.

Thomas Mario Locher, 37, of Roanoke was thrown from his truck when it ran off Interstate 81 in Montgomery County, 51/2 miles north of the Christiansburg exit, at 11:28 p.m. The truck hit a rock and flipped once, state police said.

Locher died at the scene. He also was not wearing a seat belt, state police said.
