ALDERMAN, Mary Jane, 94, of Christiansburg, died Monday, July 31, 1995 in Montgomery Regional Hospital. She is survived by three children, Mary L. Epperly, Ruby Epperly, Alvin Alderman; one daughter-in-law, Nannie Ruth Alderman, all of Christiansburg; four sisters, Lula Taylor, Iowa, Betty Thomas, Bedford, Flossie Aliff, Christiansburg, Princess Chandler, Shawsville; eleven grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; and eleven great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 1995, at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Claude Dove and Rev. Rodney Houston with burial in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.

BAKER, Mary Louise, 72, of Rt. 7 Rocky Mount, died Sunday, July 30, 1995. She is survived by her husband, Eddie Wilson Baker, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Martha Larry, Plainfield, N.J., Mrs. Elizabeth Young, Boones Mill, Mrs. Alice L. Thrall, Beaverton, Ore., Miss Bernice H. Baker, Richmond; two sons-in-law, William E. Young Jr., Boons Mill, Wayne E. Thrall, Beaverton, Ore.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law ; eight sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, 1 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with the Rev. James D. Holland officiating. BARNES, Carole Ann, 52, of Blacksburg, died Monday, July 31, 1995. She was born at Waterbury, Connecticut, on February 14, 1943. Mrs. Barnes was a secretary for the Town of Blacksburg. Surviving are her husband, Michael Barnes; two sons, Lt. Michael Barnes Jr., Jacksonville, Fla., Douglas Barnes, Johnson City, Tenn.; one brother, Tom Zenauskas, Charleston, S.C. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 1995, at Blacksburg United Methodist Church with the Rev. Herbert Hobbs officiating. BROADY, Debra H., 43, of Lowmoor, died Monday, July 31, 1995, at her residence. She is survived by her husband, Elijah H. CLINE, Robert Alvin Sr., 84, of Roanoke Valley, born in 1910 passed onto our Heavenly father care on July 31, 1995 of Cancer. A devoted father and fishing buddy and confidant, who lived life to the fullest. His memory is etched into everyone thoughts that met him and is preceded by an array of children, daughters, Nancy and Wayne Brizendine, Raonoke, Dorothy and Richard St. Clair Sr., Vinton; sons, Robert and Dot Cline Sr., Salem, Lewis and Holly Cline, Roanoke, Ted R. DALTON, Lona Goad, 100, of Willis, died Monday, July 31, 1995, at Giles Memorial Hospital in Pearisburg. She was born May 2, 1895 in Ocala, Va., daughter of the late William Acie Goad and Roxie Ann Mabrey Goad. She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Clemance and Elva Dalton, Wytheville, Convern E. Dalton, Wytheville; three daughters and sons-in-law, Zesta and Burgoyne Wade, Willis, Rheda and Arthur Lee Wheeler, Narrows, Ivalene and Calvin D. (Tom) Spangler, Narrows; two sisters, Hattie Annis Haas, Davenport, Iowa, Jezebell Polly Fish, Lake Geneva, Wis.; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren. DAWSON, Robert Custer, of Salem, died Monday, July 31,1995 in the Virginia Veteran's Care Center of Roanoke. Born April 19, 1919 in Salem, he was the son of the late Lewis Edward Dawson Sr. and Hallie Stratton Dawson. Mr. Dawson, former Salem Postmaster, was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church and the Salem Historical Society. He was a U. S. Air Force veteran of WWII. Survivors include his wife, Lellen Rice Dawson; daughter and son-in-law, Channing Stratton Johnson and Kendall Mark Johnson, Salem; granddaughter, Jordan Stratton Johnson ; and grandson, Blair James Johnson; and three sisters, Virginia Dawson Trout, Roanoke, Camille Dawson Sullivan and Louise Dawson Hall, both of Salem. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lewis Edward Dawson Jr. and a sister, Jeanne Dawson Shelor. Graveside services wi ll be conducted Thursday, August 3, 1995, at 11 a.m., by the Rev. Dean Lindsey in Sherwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday, August 2, 1995, from 7 to 9 pm. at John M. Oakey & Son, Salem Funeral Home. HINTON, Clarke Stokes Jr., 40, of Baltimore, Md., formerly of Salem, died Monday, July 31, 1995. Arrangements by John M. Oakey's & Son, Salem.

JOHNSTON, Clyde S., 94, of Pearisburg, died Tuesday, August 1, 1995. Mr. Johnston was a resident of Eggleston, Va. until 1972, where he operated a store and was the Eggleston Postmaster. His last position before retirement was Deputy Clerk in the office of the Giles County Commissioner of Revenue. He was a member of the Pearisburg First United Methodist Church, a 70-year member of the Eggleston Masonic Lodge #309 AF & AM. He was born at Trigg, V a. on May 30, 1901, and was a son of the late James Russell Johnston and Elizabeth Stafford Johnston. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Jess, Clarence and James R. Johnston, and a sister, Roxy J. Stafford, and his wife, Clara Martin Johnston. He is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Bill and June Johnston of Pearisburg; two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Albert Austin of Radford, Barbara and Roy Cardwell of Lenoir City, Tenn; six grandchildren; W. R. Johnston Jr. of Pearisburg, Debbie Leighton of Radford, Donna Wickline of Radford, Teresa Miller of Roanoke, Greg Austin of Tampa, Fla., Dr. Neil Johnston of Atlanta, Ga., eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 4, 1994 at 2 p.m. in the Givens Funeral Chapel Pearisburg, with the Rev. Freddrick Long officiating, with interment in Birchlawn Burial Park. LANDRUM, Graham Gordon, 72, of 2115 Edgemont Ave., Bristol, Tenn., died Monday, July 31, 1995, at Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was born in Dallas, Texas, and was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. He received his M.A. degree from the University of Texas and his Ph.D. from Princeton University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He taught at Austin College in Sherman, Texas, and at King College in Bristol. He was noted author and had recently published a series of mystery books, the first of which is The Famous DAR Murder Mystery. He was an elder of First Presbyterian Church in Bristol, where he taught the Men's Class for many years. He was a member of the Rotary Club of Bristol and was a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow. He belonged to the Bristol Music Club and the King's Mountain Chapter SAR. Survivors include his wife, Mary Fisher Landrum; one daughter, Mrs. Steven D. (Harriet Landrum) Koscho of Renton, Washington; and one son, Robert Landrum of Austin, Texas. The funeral service and burial will be in Bristol. Oakley-Cook Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

LEMONS, Mary Wertz, 77, of Cleveland, Tenn., passed away Monday, July 31, 1995, at Alexian Health Care Center in Signal Mountain, Tenn. She was the widow of James Kenneth Lemons, formerly of Floyd, Va. Survivors included two sons, James F. Lemons, Chattanooga, Tenn., Timothy J. Lemons, Orlando, Fla.; one brother, Richard Wertz, Flint, Mich.; three grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 2, 1995, at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, Va., with the Rev. Donald E. Stansell officiating. LINKOUS, Ida Allene Shepherd, (``Tiny''), 70, of Duncan, Okla., formerly of Blacksburg, passed away in an Oklahoma hospital on July 31, 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Lee Linkous Sr.; her mother, Ida Shepherd; a sister, Frances Shaver. She is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Garland Lee and Nancy Linkous, Christiansburg; Raymond Linkous, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ernest and Kathy Linkous, San Diego, Calif.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ribble and Barbara Shepherd, Duncan, Okla., Howard and Janet Shepherd, Baltimore, Md.; a special cousin, Linda Terrill, Christiansburg; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. MATHERLY, Charlie Quinton, 84, of Christiansburg, died Tuesday, August 1, 1995 in Heritage Hall Nursing Home. He was a retired employee of the Virginia Department of Highways. Surviving are one son, John N. Matherly, Christiansburg; one daughter, Shirley Martin, Elkton, Md.; two granddaughters, Leigh Anne Davidson, Roanoke and Julie Phillips, Christiansburg; four great-grandchildren and his former wife, Ella Matherly, Elkton, Md. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the graveside in Sunset Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorials be made to the American Cancer Society. MCCALLISTER, John S., 67, of Roanoke died Monday, July 31, 1995 in a local hospital. He was retired from the Ideal Lumber Company, he was a member of the Fincastle United Methodist Church, he was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his wife, Donna Wood McCallister; daughter and son-in-law, Karen M. and Stanley G. Boatwright, Roanoke; son and daughter-in -law, John S. and Donna M. McCallister Jr., Advance, N.C.; grandchildren, Gregory A. and Catherine A. Boatwright, Jessica A. and Adam T. and Ashley N. McCallister; brother and sister-in-law, T. Albert and Dorothy S. McCallister, Chilhowie,Va.; sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth M. and Jack H. Wells, Johnson City, Tenn.; brother-in-law, Ralph R. Stokes, Chilhowie, Va. MEADOR, Bertie Neighbors, 95, of Roanoke, went to be with her Lord in heaven, Monday, July 31, 1995. She worked for many years at the Catawba Sanitorium and the McVitty House caring for others. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Salem. Surviving are four children, Hilda Weeks, Burnett Meador, Doris Healey, Robert Meador and his wife, Imogene; one sister, Rosanne Neighbors; 31 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren; also a close and dear friend, Nancy Field. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 1995, at the Lotz Salem Chapel with the Bishop William E. Brown Sr. and the Rev. Marvin Lloyd officiating. RUCKER, Kathleen Walters, 88, of Radford, formerly of Rocky Gap, Va., passed away Tuesday, August 1, 1995 at Radford Community Hospital. She was the daughter of the late J. W. and Sally Walters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Rucker, and one grandson, Benjamin A. Gross. Mrs. Rucker is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Bobbi R. and Sanford Gross of Christiansburg; one sister, Mrs. Bertha Cundiff of Bluefield, Va.; three grandchildren, Mrs. Gary (Kathy) Harmon, Radford, Mrs. Rick (Robin) Trump. STINSON, Jamie Margaret Meadows, 85, of Enterprise, Ala., a former resident of Willowton, died Monday, July 31, 1995, in an Enterprise, Ala. hospital. Born in Willowton, she was the daughter of the late James David and Sarah Jane Meadows. She was a retired school teacher. She was preceded in death by her husband, C. L. (Lavater) Stinson and ten brothers and sisters. Survivors include one son, Byron Stinson; one grandson, Brad Stinson, both of Enterprise, Ala.; one brother, Aubrey Meadows of Rich Creek, Va. WILLIAMS, Ollie Mae, 57, of Pembroke, died Monday evening, July 31, 1995, in the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Salem, following a long illness. Bor Tazewell Co., she was a daughter the late Will and Ollie Mae Hayden Osborne. Ollie was a retired nurse and had served in the U.S. Air Force. She was a member of the Pembroke Christian Church. Surviving are her husband, Dorsey E. Williams; two sons, Rusty Casteele and wife, Frances, of Salem, and Will McLean of Pembroke; one daughter, Sheila C. Van Dyk and husband, Richard, of Dublin; grandchildren, Chris and Ginny Van Dyk of Dublin; her foster mother, Helen L. Lucas of Pembroke; a brother, Kenneth Osborne of Pembroke; two sisters, Sedwin O. Braur of Baltimore, Md. and Eula Day of Columbiaville, Mich. A memorial service will be conducted Thurs day evening August 3, 1995 at 6 p.m. in the Pembroke Christian Church with the Rev. Terry Willis officiating.
