Open-door meeting

CHRISTIANSBURG - Del. Jim Shuler, D- Blacksburg, will hold a open-door meeting for residents Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Board of Supervisors meeting room at the Montgomery County Courthouse in Christiansburg.

Shuler invites public input on education, transportation, economic development and other issues. No appointment is necessary.

Shuler serves on committees for Corporations, Insurance and Banking; Agriculture; Labor and Commerce; and Mining and Mineral Resources in the House of Delegates.

Pet adoption

BLACKSBURG - Animal Care Inc., a Blacksburg volunteer program, will have an informational meeting about pets and pet adoption during Steppin' Out. The group will meet today from 3 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 2 to 6:30 p.m. Both meetings will be at Greek's Cellar.

The group holds informational meetings several times monthly and is always interested in donations, including money, animal supplies and spaces.
