LACROIX WINS AGE GROUP AT SALISBURY

Brandon LaCroix of Roanoke shot an 80 on the 7,000-yard Salisbury Country Club course in Richmond Friday to win the 14-15 age group and place fourth overall at the Salisbury Junior Classic.

LaCroix finished at 155, one stroke ahead of Andy Dufflemeyer of Charlottesville.

``I played with the overall leaders so I didn't know what the age group players were doing until the 14th hole,'' LaCroix said. ``I was three [shots] down at that point but I birdied 16 and played 1-under for the final three holes. The other guy did well on the front nine but fell apart on the back.''

Michael Gooden of Staunton shot a two-day total of 149 to win the tournament and the 16-17 age group.

Trey Clower of Roanoke finished ninth in the 14-15 age group with a 168 and Travis Horak was 12th at 173.
