TANZANIAN BANDITS TAKE 5 MISSIONARIES

Armed bandits abducted five Americans along a remote game park road in Tanzania on Saturday, Baptist missionary officials said

The three adults and two children were abducted at about 1 p.m. Tanzania time, about 100 miles from the capital Dar-es-Salaam, said Mark Kelly, a spokesman for the Richmond, Va.-based Foreign Mission Board of the Southern Baptist convention.

U.S. Embassy officials told the Richmond Times-Dispatch Harrington sought help from people in another vehicle and gave chase, but soon lost them.

The mission board identified the missing as Sandy Harrington, 35, and daughter Christine, 10, of Richmond, Va.; mission pilot David Moreland, 50, and his wife, Millie, 43, of Monroe, La.; and a 10-year-old friend of the Harrington girl whose name was not released.
