Barth-Carr

Kara Michele Carr and Robert Wayne Barth, Jr., were united in marriage on June 24, 1995, at Our Lady of Nazareth Catholic Church. Father Kenne th Stofft officiated. A reception was held at the Radisson Patrick Henry Hotel.

The matron of honor, a college classmate of the bride, was Elizabeth Morais. The bridesmaids were Megan Carr, cousin of the bride, Alison Fehl and Nicole Schramm, friends of the bride. The flower girls were Samantha Carr, niece of the bride, and Ashley Simms, cousin of the groom.

The best man, brother of the groom, was Kevin Barth. The ushers were James Carr and Matthew Carr, brothers of the bride, and Randy Rachor, college classmate of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of James and Karen Carr of Roanoke. The groom is the son of Robert Barth and Dorothy Gross of Baltimore, Maryland.

The bride and groom are graduates of Mount Saint Mary's College in Emmitsburg, Maryland. The bride is employed by Frederick County Public Schools and the groom is employed by Terminal Corporation.

After a wedding trip to Walt Disney World, the couple will reside in Sykesville, Maryland.

\ Canova-Correll

Carrie Ann Correll and Edward F. Canova were married August 5, 1995 in St. Mark's Lutheran Church. The officiating clergyman was Reverend John M. Hawn. The reception was held at the Sheraton Inn-Roanoke Airport.

The bride was given in marriage by her parents. The matron of honor was A. Blair Chambers, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Andrea L. Canova, sister of the groom, Elizabeth H. Correll, sister-in-law of the bride, Stacy L. Chudoba, Tracy L. Chudoba, and Elizabeth A.B. Smith, all friends of the bride.

The best man was Robert F. Canova, father of the groom. The ushers were Chad N. Correll, brother of the bride, William M. Blaylock, John T. Hasselmann, D. Scott Layman, and H. Brenton Stevens, all friends of the groom.

The guestbook was attended by Kathryn L. Turcotte. A bridesmaids luncheon was held at the Hidden Valley Country Club, and given by Tracey E. Pirkey. A rehearsal dinner was held at Alexander's, and hosted by the groom's parents. The trumpeter was Gerald Pope, organist was Judy Feazelle, photographer was Jim Markey, videographer was Mike Azar, and wedding coordinator was Nikki Morgan.

The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert J. Yates of Roanoke, and Mr. Robert E. Correll of Wytheville. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and Virginia Intermont College, and is a graduate student at Virginia Tech.

The bridegroom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert F. Canova of Roanoke, is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and Virginia Tech. He is employed by The Kroger Company.

The newlyweds will live in Greensboro, N.C. after their wedding trip to St. Lucia.

\ Chittum-Williams

Jamie Nicole Williams and Michael Ryan Chittum were married May 27th, 1995 at Valley View Baptist Church in Goodview, Va. The candlelight ceremony was performed by the groom's father, Rev. Bob Chittum.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Ellis of Moneta and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Williams of Salem. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James (Sheard) Stevens of Vinton, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Williams of Roanoke and Mrs. Barbara Williams of Salem. She is also the great-granddaughter of Almeta Johnston of Salem.

The groom is the son of the Rev. Bob and Shirley Chittum of Goodview. He is the grandson of Wink and Louis Aldridge and Cletis Chittum.

Christina Lee Burns and Frank R. Haley were married June 24, 1995 at Bible Baptist Church in Roanoke. The officiating clergyman was Reverend Jeff Gardner.

The newlyweds will make their home in Salem, Virginia after a surprise wedding trip to Montego Bay, Jamaica.

Kathy Lynn Stinnett Carroll and Stacey Lee Hann were married June 24, 1995, at their home. Reverend David Cox officiated. Arthur Rodney Stinnett walked his daughter down the aisle. The maid of honor was Crystal Carroll, daughter of the bride. The bridesmaid was Beth Stinnett, sister of the bride of Roanoke. Father of the groom, Donald Hann of McConnelsburg, Pa., was best man. Second best man was Brian Helman of Roanoke, best friend of the groom. The flower girls were Sarah Carroll, daughter of the bride, and Brittany Burdge, daughter of the groom. The ring bearer was Kelcey Hann, son of the groom.

The bride is the daughter of Rodney and Betty Stinnett of Roanoke. She is a graduate of William Fleming High School.

The groom is the son of Donald and Wanda Hann of McConnelsburg, Pa.

The couple honeymooned in Florida and will reside in their home in Virginia.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nelson C. Vest of Vinton, Va. She is a graduate of Catawba College and is employed by Freeman Ford in Liberty, N. C.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen J. Hendrick of Charlotte, N. C. He is a graduate of Catawba College and is employed by Pass & Seymour legrand in Greensboro, N. C.

The marriage of Christine Gail Johnston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Johnston of Claytor Lake, to Emil Vang Jensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Finn Vang Jensen of Glen Allen, took place August 5 at First Christian Church. The Rev. Dr. Gina Rhea, pastor, officiated.

Karen Chang and Stephanie Runyan were matron and maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Anne Catherine Vang and Adair Vang Jensen, sisters of the groom; Rebecca Dangerfield, Margaret Johnson, and Kathleen Nicely. Peter Vang Jensen was his brothers's best man. Groomsmen were Scott Johnston, brother of the bride; Thomas Vang Jorgensen, cousin of the groom; Scott Snyder, Edgar Lickey and Christopher Lane. Scripture readers were Melanie Dyer and Lenora Jones. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Worth Lucas of Check and Mr. and Mrs. Estil Graham of Riner. The groom is the son of Jeannie Simpson of Christiansburg and Donald Leonard of Christiansburg. She is a CNA and he is employed at New River Industries. The couple will reside in Radford.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Murphy and the late Harold Van Dirsten. Also the granddaughter of Mrs. Joseph Fox, the late Mr. Joseph Fox, and the late Mrs. Dawn Conlon Fox. The groom is the grandson of Mrs. Mary Hinckley Hassenbein and the late Mr. George Hinckley. Also the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Martin Madden.

Janice Louise Underwood and Kenneth Ray Mowles, Jr., were joined in marriage on August 5, 1995, at 8:00 p.m. The clergyman was Rev. Dean Lindsey of Salem Presbyterian Church. The event was held at the home of Boot and Marie Mowles, the groom's parents. Also attending was the mother of the bride, Linda Geiger. The wedding party was headed by Pamela Willis, maid of honor, and Kenneth Ray Mowles III, best man. The attendance of many family members and friends were greatly appreciated and helped to make this a beautiful occasion. Thank you Butch and Kitten.

\ Rogers-Janku

Marketa Anna Janku and Scott Harrison Rogers were married Saturday, August 5, 1995, at four o'clock in the afternoon in historic St. Nicholas Church, Old Town Square, in Prague, the Czech Republic. The Reverend Vladimir Strejcek conducted the Unitarian ceremony in English and Czech.

The wedding service was followed by a stroll across the Charles Bridge to the Nostic Palace, in the Mala Strana, where the reception was held.

The bride is the daughter of Dr. Jana S. Janku and Mr. Jan A. Janku of Atherton, California, and Prague. The groom is the son of Mrs. William Andrew Dickinson of Roanoke, Virginia, and the late Judge Robert Jett Rogers.

Attending the bride as matron of honor was her sister, Mrs. Clara McKenzie, of Los Altos Hills, California. Bridesmaids were Ms. Barbara Lally of San Francisco, California, and Ms. Camille Hunt of Prague.

The groom's best men were his stepfather, Mr. William Andrew Dickinson, Roanoke, Virginia, and his two brothers, Robert Jett Rogers, Jr., Alexandria, Virginia, and Christopher Goddard Rogers of Nashville, Tennessee.

The bride studied at Adenauer Gymnasium, Westerland, Germany, the Universite de Paul Valery, Montpellier, France, and is a graduate of University of California, Davis.

The bridegroom is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and received his Master's Degree from the University of Georgia. He has also done graduate work at Yale University, the University of Virginia, and is a graduate of The Goethe Institute, Rothenburg, Germany.

Mr. Rogers is the founder and managing editor of TRAFIKA, an international literary review published in Prague. He and the bride are also founders and partners of The Globe Bookstore and Coffeehouse, famed literary and eating establishment in the city of Prague.

After a wedding trip to Gozo, a small island off the coast of Malta, the couple will live in Prague and ``The Highlands'', their farm near Telc, in Bohemia.

\ Saubert-Hamill

Heather O. Hamill and Bradley Alan Saubert were married July 15, 1995, at the Fairlawn Presbyterian Church. The Rev. John Kearfott Boyd performed the private wedding ceremony for the families.

Parents of the bride are Dr. and Mrs. Maurice R. Hamill Jr. of Radford. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. R. Wayne Saubert of Radford. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Chambers of Viroqua, Wisconsin.

The bride was escorted to the altar by her father and given in marriage by her parents. Kimberly Cline Graham, friend of the bride, was matron of honor. The best man was the groom's father, R. Wayne Saubert. The groomsman was Ty Hamill, brother of the bride.

The bride wore a McClintock lace sheath and carried a cascade of mixed roses, ivy and summer heather.

The wedding director, designer and reader was Jeff Corbin, who was assisted by Curtis Graham. Music was provided by Mrs. Kylene Hilton.

After the wedding, a reception dinner was held at the Alleghany Inn in Radford.

Heather is a graduate of Radford University with a degree in Accounting. She is employed by Vance and Rorrer, Ltd. in Radford. Bradley is a graduate of the Virginia State Police Academy and is employed by the Virginia State Police as a Trooper. After a wedding trip to The Homestead and a transitional period, the couple will live in Fredericksburg, Va.

\ Scalise-Law

Ronda Sue Law and Michael Lee Scalise were married May 27, 1995, at Hixson United Methodist Church, Chattanooga, Tenn. Reverend David B. Knight, Jr., and Reverend Robert Hofstetter officiated the ceremony. Soloist was Victor Sorrell of Bluefield, Va.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Nelson Law of Chattanooga, Tenn. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. James E. Whitlow and Mr. and Mrs. Bryan S. Law, all of Rocky Mount. She is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and the University of Tennessee. Mr. Scalise is the son of Mrs. Polly A. Scalise of Warren, Pa., and the late Guy R. Scalise. He is the grandson of Mrs. June D. Doubles of Kane, Pa., the the late Frederick T. Doubles and the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Scalise of Warren, Pa. He is a graduate of the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and is employed by DDB Needham Worldwide, Dallas, Texas.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a formal gown of white silk featuring a scalloped neckline of re-embroidered lace and short sleeves with silk roses accented with pearl sprays. The bodice was embellished with iridescents and pearls and complimented by a drop waist featuring a double obi back with silk roses. Her veil fell from a headband of porcelain flowers, pearls and lace. She carried a cascade bouquet of white roses, lilies, freesia and ivy tied with bridal ribbon.

Honor attendant was Susan DeWitt of Roanoke, cousin of the bride. Other attendants were Jennifer Stapleton, Buffalo, N. Y., sister of the groom; Aimee Minton, Nicole LeGard, both of Roanoke; Alyson Shubin, Knoxville; and Pamela Veach, Nashville. Anna Claire Clegg of Chattanooga was flower girl.

Timothy Harriger of Macon, Ga., served as best man. Ushers were Kevin Law, Chattanooga, brother of the bride; David Andersen, Virginia Beach; and Joseph Pepper, Pittsburgh, Pa. Preston Ayers of Chattanooga wa ring bearer. Hostesses were Stacy Dudley, Rocky Mount, and Keely Law, Bridgewater, N. J., cousins of the bride.

A reception followed the ceremony at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo Imperial Ballroom. The couple now reside in Dallas, Texas.

\ Scott-Hall

Melissa Anne Hall and Richard Daniel Scott were married July 8, 1995, in Marion Baptist Church with Dr. William Slater officiating. The reception was held in the church fellowship hall. The matron of honor was Della Owens, friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Beth Scott, sister of the groom, Kathy Dampeer, Ami Lewter and Shannon Pinkston, friends of the bride. Flower girls were Karin Anderson, cousin of the bride, and Alison Scott, cousin of the groom. The best man was Dan Scott, father of the groom. Ushers were Mark Hall, brother of the bride, Spencer Broce, Kyle Draper and Watt Hamlett, friends of the groom. Ring bearer was Joshua Anderson, friend of the bride and groom. Musical selections were sung by an eight person ensemble made up of members and alumni of Jubilate, a student chorale at the University of Virginia. Both bride and groom are alumni of the group.

Kimberly Scott, cousin of the groom, and Johanna Anderson, cousin of the bride assisted at the reception by giving out birdseed bags. Suzanne Waterstruss attended the guestbook.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth D. Hall of Marion, Va. She is a 1994 graduate of the University of Virginia. The bride is employed by Honeytree Early Learning Center. The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Daniel E. Scott of Roanoke. He is a 1993 graduate of the University of Virginia. He is employed by Woods, Rogers and Hazelgrove, PLC. The newlyweds are living in Roanoke after the wedding trip to Kiawah Island.

Jo-Lynne Guelich and Paul David Shane were joined in marriage Saturday, August 5, 1995, at First Baptist Church with Dr. Charles G. Fuller officiating. The reception was held at The Hotel Roanoke.

The matron of honor was Donna Hutcheson, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Suzanne Taylor, sister of the groom; Sherry Spencer, Angela Nuckols, Julie Jenkins, and Kristy Gabel, all friends of the bride. The junior bridesmaids were Melissa Miller and Whitney Cross, both cousins of the bride; and the flowergirl was Lauren Olson, also a cousin of the bride. The best man was Brian Peppel, friend of the groom. The groomsmen were Samuel Shane and Andrew Shane, brothers of the groom; Steven Guelich, brother of the bride; Mark Bell and Glenn Hoshauer, both friends of the groom. The junior ushers were Christopher Shane and Patrick Shane, nephews of the groom; and the ringbearer was Shane Gallo, also a nephew of the groom. The guestbook was attended by Jill Shartzer and Jennifer Knoles.

The bride wore a gown by Priscilla of Boston. The white silk shantung was enhanced by a short-sleeved bodice of Vienise lace. The back dipped into a V with covered buttons extending to the basque waist which was accented by silk roses with pearl sprays. The full grande silk skirt was adorned with Vienise lace flowers and swept into a chapel length train trimmed with lace. The bride carried a cascade bouquet of roses, stephanotis, and ivy.

The bride is the daughter of David and Connie Guelich of Salem, Va. She is a graduate of Salem High School and Gordon College, and she plans to pursue a teaching career. The groom is the son of Samuel and Roxanne Shane of Springfield, Pa. He graduated from Grove City College and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. He is currently employed by The Rehor Group of Valley Forge, Pa., while pursuing a career in pastoral ministry.

After a honeymoon trip to the Greystone Inn in Lake Toxaway, N.C., the couple will reside in West Chester, Pa.

Sheridan-Law

Mary Elizabeth Law and James David Sheridan were married August 5, 1995, in Chamblissburg Baptist Church with Rev. George C. Law and Rev. J. Kenneth Peters officiating. The reception was held at the church. The matron of honor was Leigh Law. Bridesmaids were Becky Teachout and Larisa Sheridan. Flower girl was Meghan Law. The best man was Roger Barnes. Groomsmen were Chuck Vickers, David Teachout and George Dougherty IV. Micah Gish was ring bearer. Ushers were Joe Graham and Chris Weeks. Kristen Law attended the guestbook. The bride is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. George C. Law, Moneta, Va. She graduated from Roanoke Valley Christian School and Piedmont Bible College in 1995. The reception was held on Tuesday, July 4, at 5:00 pm at The Montgomery Co. Recreational Park.

The bride is the daughter of Minnie C. Turman of Indian Valley, Va. and H. L. ``Peanut'' Turman of Dugspur, Va.

The bridegroom is the son of Quinton L. Simpkins and June R. Simpkins of Christiansburg, Va.

Regina and David will reside in Christiansburg.

\ Tudor-Wizorek

Annette Marie Wizorek and David Victor Tudor II were married on July 1, 1995, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrews Catholic Church in Roanoke, Virginia. The reception was held in the Shenandoah Room at the Hotel Roanoke at 6:00 p.m.

The maid of honor was Paula Candler. The best man was Frank Slaughter. Bridesmaids were Kelly Cassell, Roxana Wizorek, Lee Ann Tudor, Sarah White and Julie Hall. Groomsmen were Pat Vernon, Joe Wizorek, Scott Tudor and Mike Tolbert. Flower girls were Brittany and Jacquelyn Rutherford. Cross bearer was Katie Henretta. Penny Odum and Stefanie Ramsey helped with programs and the guest book. Photography was by Greg King of Vinton, Va.

Annette is the daughter of Jayne Wizorek of Roanoke and John E. Wizorek of Vinton. David is the son of Carol Tudor of Bristol, Tenn., and David Tudor of Asheville, N. C. Annette is a graduate of Emory and Henry College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. She is currently teaching learning disabled high school students at Morrison's School in Bristol, Va. David is a graduate of Virginia Intermont College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management. He is currently a supervisor for United Parcel Service in Bristol, Va.

\ Webb-Finney

Elizabeth Virginia Finney and Russell Alton Webb were united in marriage on February 13, 1995 in a private ceremony. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Finney of Roanoke, Va. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dalphord C. Webb of Narrows, Va., and is employed by Westvaco. The newlyweds reside in Covington, Va.

\ Whittaker-Gillespie

Cynthia Anne Gillespie and Robert Paul Whittaker were married Aug ust 5, 1995 in Grace Baptist Temple. The officiating clergymen were Rev. David Huff and Dr. Daniel Mitchell. The reception was held at the church.

The matron of honor was Mrs. Deborah Kokufuda, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Ms. Shari Van Buren, sister of the bride; and Mrs. Beth Jones, friend of the couple. Hannah Kokufuda, niece of the bride, and Nikki Thompson, niece of the groom, were the flowergirls. Frank Whittaker served as his son's best man. The ushers were Robert Hedge, Jr., nephew of the groom, and Kenneth Shelton, friend of the groom. Mrs. Melanie Smith was the guestbook attendant.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul E. Gillespie of Salem, Va. She is a graduate of Roanoke Valley Christian School, Roanoke, and Liberty University, Lynchburg, Va. She is employed by Roanoke County Social Services. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Whittaker of Roanoke, Va. He is a graduate of William Fleming High School and attended Va. Western Community College. He is employed by Magic City Sprinkler Co., Inc.

Following their wedding trip to Alaska, the newlyweds will reside in Salem, Va.

\ Wiseman-Crawford

Kelly Sue Crawford and Phillip Eric Wiseman were united in marriage on August 5, 1995, at Cave Spring Baptist Church, Roanoke, Virginia, with Rev. Glen Pearce officiating. The reception was held in the church fellowship hall. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell E. Crawford of Sumter, South Carolina, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Phillip L. Wiseman of Roanoke, Virginia.

Pamela Sloan of Statesville, North Carolina, served as her sister's matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Cooley, sister of the bride, and Kristy Wiseman, sister of the groom, both of Roanoke. The best man was Phillip L. Wiseman, father of the groom. The groomsmen were Charles Cooley, brother-in-law of the bride of Roanoke, and Doug Sloan, brother-in-law of the bride of Statesville
