The Kandinsky Trio will open its 1995-96 season Saturday, Sept. 23 at 8 p.m., by performing Schubert's ``Trout'' Quintet. The trio will be joined by James VanDemark, double bassist; and Paul Cortese, violist.
The other three performances in the series will be held Friday, Dec. 1, 8 p.m.; Saturday, Jan. 27, 8 p.m.; and Sunday, April 28, 4 p.m.

Booksigning and play
Books-A-Million will hold a book signing by Amanda Cockrell, author of ``The Deer Dancers,'' on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. Jeff Fitzgerald & Co. will perform a literal nonsense play titled ``Slipped Disks'' on Aug. 19 from 7:30-9 p.m.
Audition Day
Theater Virginia will hold its annual Statewide Audition Day on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Auditorium, 2800 Grove Avenue, Richmond.
