HAYES, SEAY, MATTERN & MATTERN INC. is one of five architectural and engineering firms recognized for outstanding design performance by the U.S. Navy. HSMM received a certificate of appreciation for design of the $9.5 million final finish hangar addition and support area at the Marine Corps Air State in Cherry Point, N.C.

KATHLEEN M. GENAITIS, chief executive officer of the Virginia Skyline Girl Scout Council, has been named to Who's Who in Executives & Professionals 1995-96 edition.

MARK WOODRUFF, a Roanoke native and a Northside High School graduate, has been named assistant managing editor of Rolling Stone magazine.

Woodruff will manage editorial operations and supervise issue production with editorial, art and production departments. He will also oversee all consumer-electronics editorial, including computer hardware and software news.

He is the son of Liz and Jim Woodruff of Roanoke.

VIRGINIA SUMMERELL, formerly of Salem, has been promoted to treasurer for the Tanger Factory Outlet Centers Inc. in Greensboro, N.C.

Prior to this job, Summerell was the company's assistant secretary treasurer where her responsibilities included cash management and oversight of all project and corporate finance transactions.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Robertson of Salem.

ROANOKE VALLEY CHARTER CHAPTER OF RETIRED AMERICAN BUSINESS WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION recently installed new officers for the 1995-96 term. They are: Janice Wright, president; Gabriella Boitnott, vice president; Mary Alys Crowder, treasurer; Jean Thurman, recording secretary; and Kathleen Martin, corresponding secretary.

Charlotte Craft was elected "Woman of the Year" for the chapter.

Andrea Herron, a student at Emory & Henry College, received A $5,300 scholarship from the group for the fourth consecutive year.
