ALLISON, Clara Louise, 79, of Pulaski, died on August 7, 1995, at Roanoke, Va. She was the youngest daughter of Wade H. Allison and Joanna Farris Allison of Draper, Va., and was predeceased by her brothers and sisters, C. Holbert Allison, Dr. Robley C. Allison, George B. Allison, J. Ralph Allison, Lee A. Boyd, Virginia A. Mottesheard and Martha Wade Allison. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a wide collection of friends. Miss Allison had degrees from Radford College, Ohio State University and Hollins College and was employed prior to retirement as librarian at Dublin High School. As a final expression of her lifelong interest and work in education, Miss Allison had directed that her body be delivered to the Virginia Anatomical Division for purposes of medical and scientific study. A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Pulaski, Virginia, on Sunday, August 13, at 3:00 p.m. A reception for friends and family will be held in the church parish hall following the memorial service. In place of flowers, which were always loved by Miss Allison, it is suggested that those who desire may provide a more lasting memorial by making an appropriate contribution to the handicap accessibility fund at Christ Episcopal Church, Pulaski, Va.

BANKS, Paul, 73, of Charlotte, N.C., died Thursday, August 10, 1995. Funeral 2 p.m. Saturday, Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Funeral Home, Hillsville, Va.

BATEMAN, Trudy Virginia, 42, of Roanoke, died Thursday, August 3, 1995, at her home. She was a lifelong member of Central Church of the Brethren. She had many interests, including outdoor activities and volunteering with the Church of the Brethren Disaster Relief, Rescue Mission, and serving on her church's witness commission. Surviving are her father and mother, Willis and Eunice Bateman of Roanoke; two sisters, Pam Green and Kay Carr of Roanoke; two nephews, John Green and David Green; two nieces, Melissa Carr and Karen Carr, all of Roanoke; five aunts, Dorothy Cletis Richards, Roanoke, Pauline Diehl, McGaheysville; Ernest ine Bateman, Roanoke, Evelyn Miles of Lynchburg, Frances Lang of Green Valley, Ariz.; and many close friends including Chris Pappas, Susan Gray, April Lail, Shelby Weikle, and Hedy Crosswhite, all of Roanoke. Private services were held at the grave at Evergreen Burial Park Saturday, August 5, 1995. A memorial service will be held at the Central Church of the Brethren 1 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 1995, conducted by the Rev. David A. Yingling and the Rev. Glenn E. Kinsel. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials may be made to the Central Church of the Brethren, Roanoke Memorial Hospice or any animal protection agency. Arrangements by Oakey's Roanoke Chapel.

BLAKE, Mamie W., 75, of Bedford, died Wednesday, August 9, 1995 at Oakwood Manor, Bedford. She is survived by her husband, Clarence Blake, Bedford; one son, Joe Blake, Richmond; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 1995, at the Western Light Baptist Church, Bedford. Interment will follow at Fairmont Cemetery, Bedford. BOWMAN, J. Maurice, 85, of Roanoke and formerly of Franklin County, died Thursday, August 10, 1995 in a local hospital. Mr. Bowman was a former school teacher and principal, retired dairyman and orchardist. Surviving are his wife, Florence Cline Bowman; two daughters, Kip Bowman Gruemer, Richmond; Phyllis Bowman Carper, Chester; two sons, John Maurice Bowman, Roanoke, Cordell Frederick Bowman, Robertsbridge East Sussex, Great Britain; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. John T. Watts, Gore, and Mrs. John H. Kelley, Whispering Pines, Fla. Funeral services will be at Antioch Church of the Brethren, Franklin County, 2 p.m. Sunday, August 13, 1995 with interment in the church cemetery. BROWN, Sara Amelia Holland, 46, of Roanoke, passed away Monday, August 7, 1995. She leaves to mourn her husband, Mr. Acie Brown; four children, Alfred Lee Levesy, Gary Aaron Levesy, Rita Vanessa Levesy. Her son, Nelson Tyrone Levesy, preceded her in death. Also surviving are her mother, Sarah Austin Holland; one grandson, Antonio DeVaughn Levesy; two brothers, Richard Bernard Holland, Gary Wayne Holland; and a host of relatives and friends. CHEATHAM, Lillian Virginia, 83, of Waynesboro, and formerly of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 1995. She is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Saneman, Belaire, Md.; a niece, Sue G. DOVE, Floella Murray, (``Fay""), 77, of Hollins, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 1995. She was the widow of Charles Stafford Dove, and was a member of Enon Baptist Church. FORE, Hazel White, 82, of Glade Spring, died Thursday, August 10, 1995 in the Russell County Medical Center, Lebanon. She was the widow of Clyde Gratter Fore. She attended the Washington Springs United Methodist Church. She is survived by three sons, Frank Fore, Ronnie Fore, and Tommy Fore, all of Glade Spring; one daughter, Christine Honaker, Honaker; and five grandchildren. Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in Old Glade Cemetery, with the Rev. Harry Tindell officiating. GALLIMORE, Ekron Heber, 72, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, August 10, 1995, at VA Medical Center, Salem. Born in Indian Valley (Floyd County) on October 8, 1922, he was a son of the late William F. and Lora A. Dalton Gallimore. Mr. Gallimore was a veteran of World War II, a former merchant in the town of Blacksburg, and a retired employee of Poly-Scientific, Inc. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Meeks Gallimore. Surviving are a foster son, Roger Allen Showman, Blacksburg; two sisters, Frances Boone, Charlottesville, and Gertha Hollandsworth, Radford; one sister-in-law, Edna G. Pring, Roanoke; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Prett and Betts Walker, Christiansburg; a special niece, Pat G. Booker, Roanoke; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 1995, at St. Michael Lutheran Church with the Rev. Jacob Mayer officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. GARDNER, J. C., 64, of Christiansburg, died Tuesday, August 8, 1995, in North Carolina Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, N.C. GODBEY, George Thomas, 68, of Radford, died Wednesday, August 9, 1995, in McGuire Veteran's Hospital in Richmond. He was a barber in Radford for forty years at the Central Barber Shop. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. Surviving are his wife, Hazel Bain Godbey of Radford; one son, Kirk Godbey of Fort Mill, S.C.; one brother, David Godbey of Radford; three sisters, Dorothy Godbey, Mary Price, both of Radford, Lois Spence of Akron, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Gethsemane Baptist Church with the Pastor Jerry Gibson and the Rev. Kent Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. GUNN, Romeo Davis Jr., 70, of Bluefield, Va. died Wednesday, August 9, 1995. He was a retired employee of Kroger's with 35 years of service and employed with Northrupt-King Company with 8 years service. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. Preceded in death by one brother, Douglas Gunn. Surviving are his wife, Janet Williams Gunn; two sons, Kenneth D. Gunn, Hillsville, Brian N. Gunn, Roanoke; one brother, Roger D. HANNABASS, Alton R., 86, of Roanoke, died Thursday, August 10, 1995, at Friendship Manor. He was a member of Parkway Wesleyan Church for 40 years. He was retired from Nelson-Roanoke Corporation and Northwest Hardware. Surviving are his wife, Helen Pagans Hannabass; sisters-in-law and their husbands, Ruth and Woodrow Morgan, Louise and Ricky Hall, all of Hardy, Estelle and William Marsbanks, Charlotte, N.C., Shirley and Troy Dobson, Athens, Tenn., Betty and Herman Plybon, Macon, Ga.; brothers-in-law and their wives, Luther and Lois Pagans, Hardy, Nelson and Helen Pagans, Vinton, Lura Pagans, Vinton. HODGSON, Kyle Stewart, 78, of Salem, died Wednesday, August 2, 1995 at his home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Blaira, in May of this year. Survivors include one son, David Michael Hodgson, Saltville; one daughter, Beth H. Bowelle, Saudi Arabia; two grandchildren, Brad N. Bowelle, Morristown, Tenn., and Paige A. KELLY, Katherine F., 89, of Marion, died Wednesday, August 9, 1995, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, Ky., after a brief illness. She was a native of Saltville, Va., and a retired teacher in the public school system in Marion where she and her late husband, Fletcher Kelly, lived for many years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she also was a member of the handbell choir, a member of the Marion Garden Club, Marion Music Club and the United Daught ers of the Confederacy in Marion. She moved to Glasgow, Ky., and later to Bowling Green, Ky. to reside with her daughter and son-in-law. She is survived by one daughter, Elaine K. Murphy and her husband, Steve, of Bowling Green, Ky.; two sons, Jeff Kelly and his wife, Mary, of Huntington, W.Va., and Marvin Kelly and his wife, Charlotte, of Simsbury, Conn.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 12, 1995, at 10 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Dr. J. N. Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Rose Cemetery in Glade Spring, Va. LONG, Lawrence L., 82, of Radford, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 1995 at Radford Community Hospital. He was a retired employee of Lynchburg Foundry. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Radford, a member of the Radford Host Lions Club since 1944, and the Radford Jaycees. Survivors include his wife, Eunice W. Long; one daughter, Mrs. Judith Dodson of Chesapeake; one son, Larry W. Long of Flagler Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Miss Louise Long of Radford, and Mrs. Irma Barton of Dayton, Ohio; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. LYNCH, Olivia Montgomery, 94, of Roanoke, died Thursday, August 10, 1995 in a local hospital. Mrs. Lynch was the widow of Albert Wesley Lynch and a member of Belmont Presbyterian Church. Surviving are three daughters and son-in-law, Frankie Lynch Fowler, Roanoke, Jean Lynch Cadd, Roanoke, and Vonnie Lynch Martin and husband, Clarence Martin, Columbia, S.C.; son, Wesley S. Lynch and wife, Phyllis, Vinton; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. MABRY, Hallie Kemp, 87, of 2315 Davis Road, Waynesboro, a former 40 year resident of the New Hope area, died late Wednesday evening, August 9, 1995 at Augusta Medical Center in Fisherville. She was born August 6, 1908 in Carroll County, a daughter of William Albert and Catherine Harris Kemp. She was a member of the New Hope United Methodist Church, where she was active in the United Methodist Women, taught Sunday School and held a number of church offices, as well as offices in the New Hope area High Noon Club. She retired as Administrator of The District Home in 1971 with 26 years of service. Survivors include a son, Dr. Hunter P. Mabry, now of Waynesboro; a daughter, Mrs. Jarvis (Marie) Lowe of Foxworth, Mississippi; one sister, Oleita Weeks of Fairfield, Va.; four grandchildren, Philip James Mabry of Pittsburgh, Penn., Ms. Ruth Mabry Al-Behlanie of Oman, Mrs. Marie Graham of Columbia, Miss., and William Walden Kester of Hattiesburg, Miss.; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Preston Mabry on May 17, 1987, one great-great-grandchild and a number of brothers and sisters. Services will be held 4 p.m. Sunday at New hope United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Howard Smith, with burial following in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be W. L. (Bill) Custard, Carl Bulle, James E. Hammer Jr., Tommy Waybright, Henry Breeding, and Dean Powers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Mabry and Shiflet United Methodist Women's Circle. MARTIN, Helen Ferguson, 86, of Roanoke, died Thursday, August 10, 1995, at her home. She was a member of Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church, where she was a Bible teacher and was a member of the Spade and Trowel Garden Club and a Girl Scout leader. Surviving are her husband, John D. Martin, Roanoke; two daughters and sons-in-law, Ellender M. and Tony Stanchina, Charleston, W.Va., Helene M. and Dale T. Vest, Summit, N.J.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. McDEARMON, Candice Crizer, 42, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, August 9, 1995. She was a Customer Service Agent with US Air and a Speech and Language Pathologist for the Roanoke City Public Schools. Mrs. McDearmon was a graduate of Radford University and was preceded in death by her father LTG Pat Crizer, U.S. Army Ret. Surviving are her husband, Gerald W. McDearmon; mother, Frances Owens Crizer, Williamsburg; brother, Major Scott H. SINK, Harold P., 89, of Roanoke, died Thursday, August 10, 1995, at his residence. He was a retired painter and a member of Calvary Memorial Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise V. Sink, Roanoke; a daughter, Nelia S., and husband, Bill Spencer, Roanoke; one sister, Sally Hill Terry, Christiansburg; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. SNEAD, Cecil Clark, 85, of Route 7, Bedford, died Wednesday, August 9, 1995, in Woodhaven Nursing Home. He was born in Bedford County on September 23, 1909, a son of the late Charlie Melvin Snead and Sallie Frances Johnson Snead. He was a retired truck driver with Hemingway Transport, and was a member of Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Annie McDaniel Snead; a son, Leonard Clark Snead, Bedford; a daughter, Ann S. Eubank, Bedford; a brother, James P. Snead, Petersburg; a sister, Mrs. Andrew (Lucy) Crawford, Bedford; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at the graveside in Oakwood Cemetery, Saturday, August 12, 1995, at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. John C. Mitchell Jr. officiating. THOMPSON, Donald Joseph, 67, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., died Wednesday, August 9, 1995, at his residence. Mr. Thompson was born February 4, 1928, in Roxbury, Mass. He graduated from the University of Maine. He was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and was Comprehensive Chain Executive with ITT Hartford Insurance Company. He was a U.S. Army veteran during WW II. Surviving are his wife, Faith Kaitul Thompson of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; two sons, Donald J. Thompson Jr. of Appleton, Wis., Michael Thompson of Minneapolis, Minn.; two daugthers, Mary-Dawn Taggart of Roanoke, Elizabeth Melby of Eden Prairie, Maine; 12 grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, August 12, 1995, at Christ Our King Catholic Church, Mount Pleasant, S.C., at 10:30 a .m., directed by John McAlister, Inc., Funeral Directors, Mt. Pleasant Chapel. TRICE, Richard Holmes, 72, of Blacksburg, died Thursday, August 10, 1995 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born in Charlottesville on December 1, 1922, he was a son of the late William Anderson and Clara Ligon Trice. Mr. Trice was employed for 19 years with Virginia Power Company and was an Agricultural Engineer with Va. Tech. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Estes Trice and a brother, William A. Trice Jr. Surviving are his wife, Annie K. (Kitty) Trice; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Ann T. and John Mumaw, Blacksburg, Penny Trice, Richmond and Jeannie T. and Russ Lytton, Charlotte, N.C.; two sisters, Ann Scheuch, Kinsale and Nancy Coles, Alexandria; one brother Patrick L. Trice, Franconia; one sister-in-law, Katherine Trice, New Market; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held a t 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 1995, at Blacksburg Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. D. Cameron Murchison Jr. officiating. TURNER, Mildred Reed, 67, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 1995, at her home. She was a former employee of Ken-Rose and Mar-Wood Inc. Surviving are a devoted husband of 45 years, Marvin D. Turner; beloved daughter and son-in-law, Trena Turner Lewis and Butch Lewis; beloved grandson, Brennan T. Lewis, all of Roanoke; beloved sister and best friend, Geneva Reed Snyder and husband, Jack Snyder, Vinton; beloved brother, Oakley T. Reed Jr. and wife, Opaline B. Reed, Goodview; also a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be at Oakey's North Chapel 1 p.m. Saturday with the Rev. Marvin Lloyd officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oakey's North Chapel.

VARNER, Flora Lee, 83, of Radford, died Thursday, August 10, 1995 at 1 p.m. at her home. She had been in failing health for the past three months. Flora was born April 8, 1912 in Randolph County, W.Va., the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin Valentine and Nevada Skidmore Valentine. She was a long time resident of Elkins, W.Va., Jamesburg, N.J., and a resident of Radford for the past eleven years. She was an active member of forty years in the Church of the Nazarene in Elkins, W.V a., Edison, N.J., and Pulaski. Her husband of 62 years, Russell M. Varner, Sr., preceded her in death. Mrs. Varner is survived by one sone, Russell Martin Varner, Jr., Radford; four daughters, Mrs. Donald D. Smith (Vivian Lee), Dublin, Maxine Mae Varner, Radford, Mrs., Joyce Ann Pudder, Howell, N.J., and Mrs. Peter P. Tomaro (Coral Jean), Old Bridge, N.J. Also surviving are one brother, Thomas Franklin Valentine, Elkins, W.Va.; sixteen grandchildren and eighteen grandchildren. One son, one daughter, and eight grandchildren preceded her in death. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, August 11, 1995, at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home, Grove Avenue, Radford. The funeral will be 2 p.m., Saturday, from the DeVilbiss Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Donald D. Smith, son-in-law, Dublin, and Rev. Tom Underwood, Pulaski, officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. WILLIAMS, Ronald D., 47, passed away Wednesday, August 9, 1995, at his home on Route 5, Galax. Mr. Williams was a long-time employee of Sara Lee Knit Products in Galax. He was a life-long member of the Mt. Pisgah Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents. T. Claude and Leona Carico Williams of Galax. He is survived by his wife, Nell Patton Williams of Galax; a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Randy Redd of Rt. 5, Galax; a son, Thomas H. Williams of the home; one granddaughter, Emily Victoria Redd of Rt. 5, Galax; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Elmer C. and Ada Lee Williams and Z. Elwood and Blanch Williams, all of Rt. 5, Galax; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews also survive. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association or the Pipers Gap Rescue Squad. Funer al services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Mt.
