GUNMAN ROBS CONVENIENCE STORE

The Uni-Mart at 931 Gus Nicks Blvd. N.E. was robbed at gunpoint early Friday, Roanoke police said. No one was injured.

Police gave this account:

About 3:55 a.m., a man walked into the convenience store while another man remained in a gray car out front. The man who had entered the store reached into his waistband and displayed a black semiautomatic handgun. He pointed the gun at a store clerk, demanding money.

The clerk emptied money from the cash register onto the counter. The man grabbed it, telling the clerk to "hit the floor." The man fled the store and got into the car, which drove away.
