POLICE ARREST 2 IN MARIJUANA BUSTS

A year-long investigation netted 250 pounds of processed marijuana Saturday morning in Carroll County with a ``conservative'' estimated street value of $500,000.

Two men were arrested and charged with conspiracy to distribute marijuana after three search warrants were served in three separate Carroll County locations around 10 a.m. Saturday, Dean said.

Chester Allen Perdue of Cana and Danny Joe Kessler of Dugspur are being held without bond.

Dean said more arrests are expected as the investigation continues.

Also seized during the raids were two vehicles, $25,000 in cash and a stolen pistol, police said.

According to Dean, Perdue and Kessler were associated with a drug trafficking operation that was bringing large quantities of processed marijuana into Virginia that was then distributed to dealers in West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina.
