WVTF was chosen for its support of the arts through its programming of classical music and jazz, its theater reviews, its interviews with artists in the visual and performing arts, its samples of music in and around Roanoke and its live coverage of The Roanoke Symphony.
The Kendig award was begun 11 years ago to honor outstanding individual and business contributions to the arts. The award is named for the late arts patron and president of Roanoke College, Perry F. Kendig.
